any pics of 40 series running tall exhaust stacks for water fording?

should work with any motor I would think.

Agreed... I wouldn't see why not. I'm gonna ask the mechanics at my local Toyota dealership. I'll post after I ask.

Thanks I am interested to know. Does heat radiate all the way up? I'm just curious if the heat would damage paint or top etc...

From what I've been told the stainless steel pipe disperses the heat faster and the SS heat shield does all the rest. So I'm pretty sure there's not much to worry about and that's assuming your running cat back SS exhaust underneath as well.

Thanks for the information. Does anyone know a price to do the proper set up?

proper setup? Not sure if such a thing. My 409 SS exhaust cost me $600 thus far and I'm sure the stack will cost another $200-$300. I was going to have the stack be 3" but now I think I am just going to keep it 2.5" going up as the stack and then that will give me room to do the shield around it.

Ok so I talked with one of the mechanics at my local Yotaship and he says given good air intake and a good 2.5" SS exhaust he can't see why it wouldn't work. He did say you would have to be careful not to restrict it to much... Mostly try to use a littles bends as possible. Think I'm gonna go for it.
Mine would go on my 05 4Runner V8... I'll post up when I get to that point.

Just dropped mine off, will pick up tomorrow and post pics. Another place will have to do my exhaust stack shield to wrap around like on big rigs. This place I a am using is all mandrel bends.

done, just need SS perforated heat shield made now. No fumes came in from ride back on highway or in city with vent windows in......yet.....

pics of hook up under truck. I can take off stack or just unhook it and then undo V-clamp and remove small section under truck and then reinstall shorty piece of exhaust back on.

thanks brother, I like it and its not loud, its actually less loud than when it was at bottom? will be powder coated black in near future.

Wow, thats cool and wierd all at the same time! :D Sorry, I just reread my post and that sounded rude. I am not meaning to be rude, I am just struck by how well you performed the work and the seemingly little real world need for it.

Why did you do it? Just curious.

how far its safe for the spare tire to the tube? heat thinking. i like the look, don't get me wrong, i want to do the same on my 40 but i don't like on the side showing the bents soo low. I have a paki soft top,but the roof rack support tube,in my case will help to attach the tube.
PD love the black and orange tire carrier....

Awesome!!! What is the metal mesh looking thing? Can you give us a closer look at the disconnect please so I now what to look for as I would like to be able to disconnect mine as well. Your running gas engine?... Notice any problems with lack of engine power with it on? Thanks!!!

lol, will there ever be a need for it? nah, but hell people put stacks in their truck beds on F250's now and they are like 6" in diameter, talk about overkill. I like the look for it is capable as with most everything else I put into this truck, extremely capable but probably never to be used, but hey why not. there will be a perforated SS heat shield surrounding it. it doesnt really put off that much heat unless you grab it. I have th eoption to disconnect down below and couple my short lower exhaust pipe onto it and could just keep the stack on for looks. I own a new softtop but no poles so no plans on that for long time but would it maybe do something to softtop windows??? maybe..., probably. the SS mesh is a flex joint to allow movement and under truck is a connection right behind the quarter panel so I could take stack completely off and also right before the mesh flex is whats called a V clamp which is where it would disconnect that small section and add my shorty exhaust on whenever and still leave stack on if that makes sense. the heat shield will look something like the black and red cruiser pic I posted. no loss in power and my rig is a 3B turbo diesel. I take no offense to anything, everyone has an opinion and good thoughts as well. again, in building this rig I always put everything into I could to be more than capable for whatever was to present itself, from chromoly front and rear axles, air lockers front and rear, exhaust brake, snorkel, diffs/trans/transfer extended breathers (not installed yet), havnt made my bush cables yet neither but they coming....I guess I like the expedition look and my camping days are about here. this rig will pull my CDN M101. the orange shackles will be painted another color for I just bought them. actually dont like the rims and tires as much as I do my split rims. So what was once to be a almost stock look truck is starting to divert....

adventure copan, I will try and take better pics next week for I am away from my rig now. the V clamp is what will connect and disconnect and makes seal (you see part of the v clamp on my small shorty exhaust pipe? that is what I can hook back up to original exhaust system and it comes out by my left side rear). the flex joint is to allow exhaust to move a little along with multiple hangers.

thanks

Spectacular! Thank you for taking the time to write that and give us a break down.

I have a couple weeks before my rear bumper comes in so I've got some time before I start mine.

I was thinking of putting a Y "racing joint?" before I turn my exhaust to come out the side so that I can manually open the port door on the Y joint so my exhaust would dump out underneath and then before I go though water manually close the joint and now my exhaust is exiting the stack. Hope that makes sense.

Cool post... Love it! :D

yeah I wondered if there was something out there like that with a valve, kinda like a water valve.

The one I'm thinking of getting is manual and I still need to find a SS version, but here's a link to one at Summit Racing.

My other thinking behind it was if my exhaust stack got smashed, then I would still have a way to keep going by opening this up. :)
