Any of you camp in your rig?

going camping this weekend but don't plan on sleeping in the rig! i bought a 1 person tent:)

Sure Ive done it all in my Hundy. For the last 4 months, i made the Reno to Jackson Hole rountrip every weekend. Slept in the front. The back, and the roof. A 2 hour rest on the Mag RTT = 6 in the cab.
Besides, the cab is where the Ref and dog belongs. Have a pillow top and a down comforter up there and you are golden. Last weekend, the snow storm was not an issue at all. The $40 12v trucker special blankets do work.

I finally got around to taking a picture of my in truck sleeping arrangement. when I built my drawers I measured to make sure that when I folded the middle seat down it provided a perfectly flat surface to slide a single air mattress onto. It couldn't be more of a perfect fit!!! Removal of the smaller second row seat fits my ARB fridge perfectly after building a stand for it. Nice thing is that I can grab a cold beverage just before going to sleep! ha.. A big plus is that I don't have to dry out a tent when I get home after a long weekend of outdoor fun!

When sleeping in the 100 with my fridge in bear country, I keep the keys in the ignition!

I do that anytime it's gonna be chilly at night, I can wake up at 3am and run it for 20-30m for a quick flash of high heat.

I've often wondered about this scenario. Would sleeping in your vehicle with a fridge or cooler in bear country be inviting trouble?

I think you are fairly safe sleeping in a 7000lb truck.

Hunters all over this country sleep in thin walled tents right in the middle of (grizzly) bear country.

However, just in case you want added protection, think about sleeping in a Kobalt (that is one big arse brown bear):

I wouldn't leave the windows all the way down or the doors unlocked. Otherwise you should be perfectly safe.

Driver's door open, bacon on the seat and keys in the ignition. - that would be inviting trouble. ;)

have you seen the movies of a bear peeling off the window from a car? Impressive.
Having said that, I'd rather be in the truck or on top of the truck than in a tent or outside the tent...
But yes, the thought of sleeping next to the fridge is a bit disconcerting. Yet, pulling all the food out to hang is a pain and the scent probably remains behind anyway. Basically, you gotta bank on the low probability of being attacked. But it can put a damper on things when you know there are bears around.
One plus for the desert... At least out there in the truck you're good.
