Anyone ever shorten the goofy shifter? I looked and couldn't find anything. It obviously would be purely for aesthetics but it has to make it look better!

I don't think I worded the question correctly! The shifter knob sits kind of high. I think it would look better if it sat a little lower. I am a new GX owner and honestly never even sat in one. I am solely going by pics. I will be getting my hands on the new truck on the 5th and will check out the feasibility of this idea that I am asking about and post further info once I have it!

To shorten you either have to machine the existing rod down then run threads or have to replace the whole thing with an aftermarket, which I don't think exists

When I was shopping for the GX I thought the same thing while looking atthe pictures. It almost looked like a 5 speed lever. Now that I have one it's not that bad. You could always add a 2 inch body lift and it would look normal:) Of course then you would have to extended the high/ low lever!

You could simply take an inch or so out of the middle, if you can weld. But, then you might have issues with the boot getting pinched/ bound up in the gate with the shortened lever.

It's fine the way it is, IMO.

The knob just unscrews, looks like a 1/4" bolt or thereabouts. You could cut it shorter with a dremel and either cut new threads or glue a threaded coupler onto it. That said, it's never been something I've given any thought to until now.

I really appreciate the great ideas. Again...I have never been inside of one of these and purchased mine online. I won't have my hands on it until Thursday but going just by interior pics online, one member put it best by saying it looks like a manual trans vehicle! If I decide to mod the shifter I will definitely be using some of these ideas.
