What is this and where does it go under the hood. Pics would be greatly appreciated.

The tape marking what it was and where it goes was torn off.

My guess is…….voltage regulator - attach to passenger side firewall?

Ok, if it is a voltage regulator, where does it go on the firewall. I have looked at all of the engine bay images that we have and i don't see it anywhere

Driver's side firewall under the brakes and clutch, etc., on my 1974, but am pretty sure they moved around a bit from year to year.
