Another tire thread.... RWs for LX570 no mods (2 Viewers)

Hi folks,

I'm racking my brain here maybe someone has the answer for me. Whats the largest tire size you can use on the RW's with full AHC use (low mode included), no rubbing or contact, and no modifications whatsoever?

My research is pointing me to 255/75r17. Popular vote on here says 285/70r17 - but the main tire wheel megathread is mostly LC200s and does not count AHC low mode into effect. I like low mode, helps the kids get into the car.

low mode doesn’t really impact what size you can fit. Whether or not you have AHC, the wheels still travel into all the same spots when the suspension cycles and you turn the wheels.

Thanks for answering. I guess I’m just jammed from having to screw around with my old LX470 so much, I don’t want to ruin this one.

Do I need to screw with the mudflaps or fenders to make them work at full capacity?

I have 285/70/17 on a stock 2013 LX. I had to remove the front mud flaps (takes minutes) and did NO OTHER modifications. The wheels I'm running are 17" x 8.5" +25mm so a bit more poke than the Rock Warriors you are thinking about. My experience below will be the absolute most rubbing you may even have. You might not even encounter these issues since your offset will be much higher.

1. It does barely rub in full lock when reversing (I forget which direction). Super insignificant.
2. It also will rub a bit if you're in low mode and are turning. For example, if you are in low/egress mode and pull out of a driveway before system has a chance to go back to N. And that driveway has a curb. If you compress the suspension while moving it'll sometimes rub a bit.

Overall, both of these things are extremely minor and I would not consider them losing sleep over or not being able to run the super common tire size of 285/70/17. Hope this helps.

Going from 20" OEM size Michelin Defender to Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrains, I'd say I lost ~2mpg. Pretty standard from going from street tires to all terrain.

I run 285/70/17 Toyo Open Country Load C on RW on my 2018. There is very slight rubbing on the front drivers side on full turns. No issues in Low Mode.
