It's gonna be custom. Firewall is going back a tad to get the back of the block behind the idler arm and the steering box. I think I can get a starter in and out of here. Besides, I though the firewall was ugly anyways.

I need to dig a LS out tomorrow so I can stick an actual engine in there to see if there are any surprises from sinking the engine that deep in the crossmember. ..... exhaust might be fun. I hope the manifolds don't hit the top of the crossmember.

If I could have used the truck intake, this swap would have been stupid low buck. I think I need to notch the alternator bracket a tad more to get more flop. I will see. I need a longer bolt to relocate my idler.

It's there, but not right. It needs to move towards the passenger side to get away from the steering box. Not sure I can cut much more from the crossmember side-to-side. I might need to change oil pans.

Talking to a guy with a running driving ls swapped 450sl....his motor is several inches forward of where I set mine. I am going to look at that too.

Not happy with this swap. I don't like the steering box where it is and not sure I could build enough strength back into the crossmember.

I'm going to plan B. I'm swapping in C4 corvette suspension front and rear. This frees up space for exhaust and rear sump oil pan by having the rack up front. I think I'm going to run the fiberglass leaf springs too.

The rear looks like an easy enough swap too and it's a limited slip diff.

Also bought C5 wheels instead of changing bolt patterns to keep the AMG wheels.

Things are about to get interesting.

Oh yeah, the corvette driveshaft fits my transmission. The box behind the trans has a streetrod air-conditioning unit in it.

The tires on the front wheels are currently 255/45/17. I think I'm going to go to a 245/40/17 when I put new tires on. I want this car pretty low.

You are giving me ideas i feel will be expensive and labor intensive.

That's not very nice of you.
C4 corvette stuff is cheap. Time will tell if it is worth the effort. It sure looks like it has the potential to be fun.

New framerails made and welded in. Waiting to nail down the crossmember until the engine weight shows me exactly where it needs to be.

This is the mock up with no springs. Ride height should be close to this.
