I don’t generally get excited about new parts but the fact that you can still get a radiator for a 58 year old truck new from Toyota is shocking even for me.

The original finally gave up. A few dollars and 30 minutes later and the LV is god to go for another few decades.

So the original short block on the LV is nearing the end of its service life and needs some work. The press on crank pulley has about 5* or rotational play on the crankshaft so I'm assuming that the keyway isn't far from letting go. It also rattles like hell when its idling (probably also when driving but the truck is to loud to tell.).

On a tip from a fellow Mud member I found a perfect donor short block for the LV at a local "Yank a Part".

The donor truck was/is a 72 FJ55 with 86k miles on it according to the dash (which I believe). and the engine looks it.

Came complete less the carb, dizzy and fan, and all for $300.

The plan is to clean up the bottom end and re-gasket everything. At that point I may or may not swap the head for the rebuilt head that is currently on the LV.
