The advantage is that the front of the arm won't hang down out of the axle bracket and get caught on obsticles. With the rear removed that won't happen, but like I said it would need to be ramped to see how it works.

Anybody proposing a triangulated 4-link needs to calculate the upper arm mounts for proper roll axis. You get that wrong, and instead of a panhard you have a rig that falls over on its side on a 20 degree slope.

Anybody want to see the spreadsheet on calculating roll axis? What do you do when it tells you the upper arm mount must be inside the cabin? :eek:

Dude, let's just 3-link it with johnny joints and custom mounts. You get all the rubber out of the system and you'll be limiting strap the flex so it is balanced with the rear. You could sell your Slee arms and pay for the whole thing :D .

I just can't imagine spending a bunch of time on a 3-link that doesn't flex as well as the four link rear you already have. The only thing it really costs you is pictures of IFS rigs that flex as well as you do up front, but that's what lockers are for.

Let's go run Old Chinaman's next weekend and see how much extra flex you really need and get it off paper. I never felt in one time on the trail and my last rig had double the flex up front of what you are trying to engineer here.

As much as I like thinking about how to make something cool and super flexy in the front, the truth of the matter is I haven't had enough time to wheel my 80 the way it is. I haven't tapped half the potential of my current set-up yet.
 
The man is bringin' me down!!! lol...I guess I"m one of those people that likes to try tons of little/cheap/freeish things to help flex.

:grinpimp: no on the 3 link for now! lol...again...I'm not an engineer and this was just a simple test to see if it works. I love the way it drives, don't want to *really* change that, but a bit more flex is always helpful. :grinpimp:

I definitely don't want too much flex as my friend last night just got back from Moab, he has a wrangler and was doing "the crack" and the front dropped in...unlocked up front he was having issues because of too much flex, he said he would have been better with the swaybar attached.

The thing I'll look at more today is what Kevin was saying, checking for all the bushings seeing if there is any binding. Just as I was glancing yesterday, didn't seem to be any that I could tell on the arms.

I did ramp up the front on the DS tire, but the arm swung up and came in contact with the axle...so I'm guessing there is more available there had the arm not got in the way. I'll try the PS up on the ramp today.

I'm not going to re-engineer the system...I'm just a questioner by nature...I think Tools R us prolly has the best setup utilizing stock parts. he has seen a decent jump in flex, and stability off-road to help match the back. i would like to be able to do the same with what I have and my skills...if that makes sense.
 
a Few weel ago I saw in a TJ from JKS a lower control arms ( front ones ) with a kind of slip joke ..

nothing to said about plenty of flex .. ! but I did a search in the website and can't found them .. so I call to the TJ owner and ask about the arms .. awiting his answer and post here.
