Hey you remember. Glad I didn't stay at a Holiday inn:grinpimp: Here is the engine assembled and ready to go in. The excitment is building!
And Rigger you are right there is no other.

Frank...The next conversion you want done you deliver it and turn a wrench with me. You definately have the skills.

One other thing

After all the conversions and the numerous e-mails I have found that I have meet some of the best people around. Not everyone gets the opportunity that I get to make as many friends that I have in the past year and 1/2 that I have been doing this. Thanks a bunch guys:beer:

holy Ned! how long is that whole contgraption? that must weigh 600lbs! Hope yhou have help dropping that monster in there! Looks fantastic.

i'm not using a VSS (that function was deleted by FIS) and it is running fine. The guys at FIS said i didn't need to run it if i didn't have any of the emissions crapola, electric auto tranny, or electric speedo. I got my harness and engine already done so i just figured i'd run it and see... again, so far (200 or so miles of driving and LOTS of idling) it has been all good.

That being said the ECU was programmed for the wrong Mass Air Sensor which gave me some troubles untill i hooked it up to a scanner and figured out that it was trying to richen the mixture because the Mass air sensor was telling it to run too lean. Basically they can either be programmed to run a truck mas air meter (silverado) or one out of a van. I had the truck mass air meter and it was programmed to run on the other.... Willie at FIS fixed me up though and reprogrammed it fo rthe one i had (which also came with my motor).

I still have a few codes being thrown for the O2 sensor heaters (which i think is because of a bad ground), and the Idle air control which i need to figure out. Nice thing is that if you dont have a scanner you can drive to autozone and have them scan it for free.... but they just tell you the codes. The nicer scanners tell you EVERYTHING. you can see RPM, coolant temp, fuel adjustments, check for misfires on any cylinder, check 02 sensor voltages, check injectors, basically see everything thats going on. Either way, on the road, the average guy can get codes checked like any other GM... which is pretty sweet.

Your work is number one in my books....
I dont know if I got the skills eh..I sure have a lot of knowledgeable people in here giving me a lot of support...
Thanks dude !!!
That engine looks sweeeeeeeeeeet man !!!!
keeping an eye on all the small details that usually are the ones that I have issues with...

Laters,

Correct Rover, You don't need to run a VSS. But if you plan to upgrade to electronic gauges and CRUISE CONTROL you might need it. I like the idea of no running one because it eliminates the need of another sensor. Glad to hear yoou have her running good. And the guys at FIS are great! I won't use anyone else. And being able to talk to your truck to find out what is wrong has alot of cool points. One question what color are the 02 sensor plugs you have installed? Gray or black? Just curious. I had the same problem on Zero's. He changed sensors to the black all GM sensors and it cleared. But the mileage went down. He put the Gray ones back on and he is not setting codes. But either way you can always have those codes deprogrammed:grinpimp:

Frank anytime your in the area come on by and thanks!

Chukardog-Nope just me putting that beast in!

Moneypit- Thanks again

After reading all the details; I'm glad I didn't try this myself. Some things are better left to the experts. That red beast is ready for it's new heart.

Actually, after one ignition cycle, the code light is on with the grey plug sensors. I'll have mileage numbers after this current tank, which sitting just under half already seems to be pushing more miles....

the plugs on mine are grey... I checked them with the meter last night and am not seeing a gound on the heater circuit for some reason. got 12v on one wire, but no ground on the other.

will research more tonight and report.

Tonights progress

Well I got tired of waiting for the fuel line so I said,"Screw it she's going in!" Here's the progress and yes I still do this alone without a leveler. These are the engine going in.

Pic's of the Motor mounts and clearance

Here is the mounts and where I sat them. I use the shock towers as a refer. Point. This does not work for an H55 though. Note the laser level telling me how high I can set the engine without problems. And I ran out of Mountain Dew so I had to do coke for tonight.

what throtle body do you use? I realized I have the electronic version not the cable one. Do I convert? How? or, can I get a fly by wire gas pedal. I know you have used the Lokar kit with some washers, but what do I do?
