Specs: 1996 FZJ80. Converted 1HDFT/H151 5-speed. 200K miles. J-springs, BJ74 16" steelies, 285's, Labs rear bumper, Hannaquality sliders (missing in picts). Schlaker helped me remove nearly all the trim, bumpers, weatherstripping, and door panels. I welded up the holes from the fender flares, roof rack, spoiler-thingie, antenna.

Maaco did a... passable job. It's going to be wheeled, so i didn't need show quality. But, I did need to point out to them the flaws (drips, fish-eyes, overspray), three times until I was finally happy with it. But, now I'm battling a alternator gremlin from them killing my battery and jump-starting it.

Anyway, the price was right. Including all 5 door jams, skinning over all my welds, and a new windshield... it was $1100.

O K.. Can I see this in person (I'm in Redwood City-Lexington ave Palo Alto?)... That thing is awesome.. Favorite color too. Did the diesel come from one of those spector half cuts?

Scouring pad? That might b e the pict of the oil fume catch can (pict is in wrong album, that's not my catch can).
Maaco.
$1100 with new windshield.

Engine was a mess when I got the truck. Spent 3 months cleaning and fixing. I'm not that OCD; the cleaning was necesarry to fix some of it.

I hope I never have to lift that hood again.

Oh, and the Maaco was in Palo Alto, CA

Maaco wanted me to do as little as possible. They wouldn't let me sand. I removed everything to make their tape job better (easier). Most difficult job is re moving outer window felt/trim, and trim below sliding windows, and rear C-shaped trim, without breaking the clips. Luckily my friend Schlaker had just done this on his truck, and had mastered the technique.

Wow, it's amazing what a difference painting the black window frames to match the body color does for the overall look of the vehicle.

I love the Dune Beige. My white paint (upon close inspection) is getting tired. If I repaint, I will seriously consider this color. Perhaps a bit darker.

Your truck looks great!

My gosh that diesel looks like brand new :eek:

Gifu,

Awesome Rig! Truly one of a kind.

I read that you are running 285's, but what brand and model are they?
