So... Every time i hit my horn, both blinkers flash on the dash.
I don't THINK the exterior light are flashing too, but i haven't been outside the truck when it's honked to be sure..... It amuses me to think thath they are all so much that i haven't dug into it yet.. I'm hoping a few hints from the electri9cal gurus will motivate me to take a crack at it......

I'm guessing it's a bad ground in the horn, seeking ground out through the lights... but how it is getting there?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Cal-

Yes.
Don't worry about finding where the bad ground is. Just run a new ground wire from the steering column, light mounts and the frame.

The blinkers in the dash are grounded to get them to light up when activated you apply power. I'm wondering how 12V gets to your dash lights when horn is activated.

Some kind of weird feedback loops that need isolation.

Either your horn switch is grounding through the lights (path of least resistance) due to a broken or bad ground or you have some wires rubbed through and touching in the column harness. If you had wires touching in the harness you would probably be blowing fuses by now.

Since the horn switches a ground connection, it is probably a bad ground rather than a short.

Thought about this a bit and realized i had a question....

Just run a new ground from anywhere metal on the Steering column or some place special?

Thanks,

Yes, but test it first: connect a wire to the frame or body sheet metal and then touch it to the steering column and gauge panel to see if your problem goes away. If it does, connect a permanent wire.
