I hooked up a new HU and speakers the other day. This afternoon I was attempting to install an Alpine HU booster that should just be plug and play with the HU and wiring harness. Well i can't get it to work so I start to unplug it then I hear one of my rear speakers hissing and had smoke coming from under the dash by the glove box. Now my clock and radio has no power going to it and I am lost. Anyone have any idea what I can try? All the fuses look good and I worried that isn't the problem with seeing smoke. I can smell an electrical burn.

The car was off with the key not in the ignition when this happened.

i am a moron please delete. It was a fuse under the hood and I am too dumb to know that I needed to unplug the factory amp. Or you can leave this up and show the world my shame.

Fuses under the hood don't usually emit smoke from under the dash.
You might want to find that wire and see how bad it looks...

Did you remove the amplifier from behind the glove box?

And you're not a moron. A moron would have taken it to <insert stereo installer hack shop here>.

It was the factory amp that was smoking. I was trying to run an alpine amp through it. Not a good idea in case anyone was wondering

Easiest way to locate the stock amp eh? :hillbilly:
