Amby door handle bent or something else?

I tried to straighten my handle because its annoying. Can't seem to make it work, any thoughts? I believe the handle should lay horizontal, correct me if im wrong here..

1st pic shows it at a 45 deg angle as its been since i bought it.

2nd shows the square section that takes the handle, note orentation.

3rd shows what i believe it should look like.

4th shows how the square looks with handle horizontal, which doesn't line up with the other piece in pic 2.

It is definitely supposed to be horizontal. Other than that, I'm not sure what's going on. Everything else seems to match mine (from memory). Does anything on the handle shaft look twisted or otherwise strange?

Edit: added a pic of mine. Seems like the orientation/alignment matches yours. My money would be on the handle being twisted or something.
