So since Toyota no longer rebuilds alternators for FJ60s I am wondering what is everyone's opinion on what the most reliable option is for the 2F. I've been through three seperate rebuilt units in a short amount of time only running stock electricals. Opinions of GM swaps? Maybe not the best choice? FJ80 is an option but where to find a strong reliable rebuilt unit poses the same question as the stock FJ60 alternator?
Or if anyone knows of a rebuilder that is absolutely the best that we can rely on?
Thanks for the your opinions

I put a Hehr (since bought out by somebody) alternator on my 2F about 20 years ago. Bought it new with a voltage regulator. Fit pretty well, not perfectly. Think it's 120 amps. I can't read the label without taking it off.
Got it rebuilt once, in Colorado, at A1BASE (Best Alternator And Starter Exchange) in Commerce City. They know what they're doing. I imagine that just about every good-sized town has one good alternator rebuild shop...

Now we're getting somewhere good. Thanks for the information that is really helpful. Also the pictures that is awesome.
Doing a little digging...
Looks like they are now "Powerline"?
Maybe this model? 23-110, 120-Amp, 12V - https://hdpsi.com/collections/23hd-series-models/products/23-110-120-amps-12-volts
At $795.00 that hard to swallow but in a world lacking of quality products this may be the ticket

YOW! I didn't pay anything near that, mine does not look that fancy either. Keep shopping. Powerline sounds familiar though

Random, I was talking to @dbbowen today about this. My use case is for a LS swap and trying to get more amps out of the system. I am not sure if the have a alternator for the 2f but mechman seems to make a nice product at a steep price.

Interesting
I have been looking more into this and there may be a family of alternators with similar mounting. Looks like the Marine alternators are probably the best you can get if you want to shell out for them (Balmar, Powerline) but they have an externally mounted regular and it is an additional cost.

Does anyone have measurements for the 2f alternator on the ear to ear spread on the bottom and the spacing from bottom mount hole across to the top? My truck is currently in the shop. I will post my findings when I can match up some measurements. There may be many options that will fit up without much fuss.
