Alternator in 76 shorty

Gday all.

Needing to know the output ampage for a 1976 short wheel base.
Used spotlights the other night shooting, and the battery was very sad in the morning...

I think the alt is rated around 40 amps max.

Yes, from your "shorty" reference I assume you are in Oz?
Over here we have a couple of options the cheapest is the Chevy, up to 100 amps for $50.......
