So in the 44 years since the last Iron Pig rolled off the production line, no engineering advancement in metallurgy, casting, machining, oil flow, oil passage design, CAD drawing and design technology, oil composition and additive advances have resulted in a retail automotive engine that can go longer than 3,000 miles without an oil change without significantly shortening its useful life? I find that hard to believe. I mean, you do you and all, but I'm totally okay with 10k mile intervals on engine oil.

Ah the not so wonderful bronze valve guides on the 2F engine. The changes in engines made since then are much closer tolerances and lubrication is even more critical.

I am doing what Lexus says to do, not me being me. On the other hand if a person has a pavement princess and never goes off road, travels dirt roads, tows a trailer, no short trips under 32° (I think they mean 32° ABOVE zero LOL), or extensive idling (such as warming up before driving in the winter) and is comfortable with it then for the US market it is blessed by the Lexus (Toyota) engineers. Still doesn't mean it is the best practice. There is no difference between the GX engines in Dubai and here. I think many just see the 10K and think that is a blanket statement. Far from it.
 
Evert modern vehicle I've owned has clearly specified that the "standard" OCI, whether 7.5k or 10k, is only for the lightest of driving use. My vehicles rarely fall into that and get the alternate, more frequent OCI called out in the manual.

I would say that the vast majority of drivers fall under the "severe conditions" category but those extended oil change intervals are great marketing fodder. I don't think it will be as much of an issue on the 460 but those poor 550 owners going with extended oil change intervals, fuel dilution, degraded viscosity and flash point, no wonder the V35A is pulverizing main bearings into dust....signed - a guy who is done owning DI turbo vehicles.
 
I like to find the best deals for good fluids.

Engine- ChevronHavoline 0w20 ($4 a quart at Walmart for 6-quart box, solid UOA)
Diffs- Mobil 1 Delvac 75w90 ($10 a quart at Summit Racing)
T/C- Liqui Moly 75w ($8 a quart at FCP Euro)
Trans- Toyota ATF WS, don't want to mess with alternative options.
