Im looking for a deeper/lower pitch horn for my tundra. One that actually sounds like it i belongs on a truck! I do not want a train horn because of its cost and necessity of a air compressor. My budget for a horn is $50, $75 at max. Suggestions please!

They make a duel air horn with a small compressor that you can get at any auto parts store. Its really loud but high pitched. Not manly.

I've been looking at this. I'd like to get a train horn, but thats way too much time, effort, and price for me.

Chrome Hawk Electric Air Horn

Hella Supertones. Very very loud. They really get people's attention.

If you go with these, plan to pull them apart and repaint them, the factory red paint doesn't last long. Swap out the screws for stainless too. Toss the crappy relay, get a good one.

You can often find them on eBay, even Amazon sells them.

I found that triple horns from a 1980s Buick caused my horn fuse to blow repeatedly on my '98 4Runner. I liked the commanding sound, but I ended up reinstalling the OEM horns.

That is why you should relay anything that is higher wattage than the OEM part that it replaces (headlights, horn, stereo, etc). Then the OEM fused circuit only powers the relay, and the new part will be fed from a new fused circuit that you run to the battery or a distribution block.

I think you would be happy with Park Avenue horns. They are pretty loud and have a nice dual tone with one being a lower tone. Around the 2000 model year.

Hate to be a stick in the mud, and I DO like nice, loud horns, but--
these days, a little (sometimes a lot of) patience goes a long ways. You never know when you honk at somebody and scare the s*** out of him/her whether you've irritated them enough for them to counterattack. And it doesn't take much. And you never know how.

And you never know the size of the piece they might be keeping next to them.

The hella horns are very nice. Those air horns are loud. I had a similar set. I took them out because they sounded kinda sissy. My buddy put a set of the Hellas in his car and they sound great. They look cool to peeking threw the grill.

Where did you mount you air horns?

I had Wolo triple trumpet air horns on muh rig...
they were cheap and eventually died...

so this time around...
I bought in to the Wolo Bad Boyz air horn.

Harbor Freight haz 'dem

They seem plenty deep sounding and loud enough...
simple plug ~n~ play

so I put one on the dd as well

Only time will tell if they outlast the prior Wolo junk http://smilearchive.com/s/otn/ez/pi_question_mark.gif

great for motorcycles I'd think
especially since you can buy them bling chrome ;)

I had mine on my inner fender in the engine bay. There is some room on the left. And i think there was some holes already there that i just had to poke threw the undercoating.

I use to know this guy Charley that had on bored air and a tank on his jeep already. He got ahold of a ferry horn... It was so long that he had it pressed up agents his firewall and still had to cut a hole in the front up to his grill. I remember we had several groups on a mountain and he was in another group. He was far enough away that we couldn't get him on a CB. Someone called him and got him to let that baby rip and you could hear it plane as day. Now that will get your attention in the city streets.
