I have a 2006 Lexus GX470. The KDSS light is on and I had it checked out by the dealer. The problem is the code C1832 Accumulator Solenoid Downside. Just to replace that part with labor is $5000. They also want to replace the lines because they are rusty and they said that they might bend or break with trying to disconnect them to the Accumulator Solenoid Downside, but that is another $4,000. So its $9,000 total for the repair. I was planning on installing aftermarket shocks and convert to a air suspension to coils, but not now with the expensive KDSS repair. Do you know of a resource to where I could replace the Accumulator Solenoid Downside myself and try not to replace all of the lines. The part alone is $3300 or any success with deleting the KDSS and adding alternate sway bar. I am just dumbfounded with the expense of it. I figured maybe $4000 at the most, but $9,000 is too high.

Thank you for your input.

For $9k i would rip all KDSS and just put high end off road suspension. Truck runs fine without KDSS so its not a terminal problem.

I really like KDSS but not at 9k. I bought my rust free KDSS truck less than that.

There a guy from Rancho, California that can rebuild it. He is on Facebook by name of Andy Le if I remember correctly.

Jstawgn, thank you for the resource and ideas. That's kinda of what I was thinking too.

Rebuild is best b/c KDSS is nice, but you can deactivate the valve basically fixing the valve shut and no hydraulic action. It'd be great on road but less than non kdss off road.

I agree. Someone could also fab up the mounts to put on standard sway bars too front and rear instead of running KDSS to maintain stability, and it would be way less. I know a guy here doing that on 5th Gen 4runners, removing KDSS to run long travel parts in the rear.

Investing that $9k wouldn't be worth it. If the truck got in a wreck, that money would be down the drain.

I'd bet front sway bar bits would bolt right up. Rear, I'm not so sure (haven't compared non kdss rear to mime), but the knuckle looks like it has the right mounting points for a non kdss FSB... I wonder if you could source 4th gen 4r or fj bits from a junk yard... I'd also research bar diameters, they could potentially differ....

I believe Sway Away, Hellwig, and Eibach makes sway bars front and rear (F&R) that are slightly bigger than stock for the 4Runner which should fit the GX. As I recall, they were around $300+ for F&R and are designed for towing. Those sway bars with or without a manual sway bar disconnects could be an optional set up.

My 05 sports does not have the front swaybar welded nut in the front frame horn and only have one hole. It should not be too bad to remove the bumper crash bar and insert a plate with welded nut to capture the swaybar bracket. The knuckle are the same for both so its not a problem.

My rear axle still have bracket for normal swaybar. Not sure if that suppose to be like that from factory or not. Lexus service history show it was replaced at one point. The KDSS bracket can be welded at the repair shop.

Superpro shows 3 point adjustable 30 mm front swaybar and 24 mm 3 points adjustable rear swaybar. It's available im US for $350 front and $250 rear. That is pretty expensive but might be worth it for the adjustability. They claim it to not limit articulation at the softest setting.

I just removed KDSS from mine. Front standard sway bar bolts in, but you need to drill out 2 holes and either weld in nuts, rivnut, or tap the hole so you can bolt it in place. I used the aluminum drop spacer and everything bolted up fine. Rear is a different story, no mounts at all. I ended up going rear long travel so no more sway bar. If I wanted a rear one, probably easier to run currie antirock instead of fabbing up mounts for a standard rear sway.

Would like to have conversation about getting rid of KDSS and replacing front with stock sway bar setup. My 2004 has KDSS and it's doing funny things. I like simple things.
