the padding will be added with good time, now that i think about it...and felt it, i went on a little mini trail and hit my elbow a good couple times, my funny bone is all laughed out... corny joke i know lol. but the cupholders make a whole world of difference, being able to sip some coffee and then shift gears makes it worth it! the paint, i think it looks good as is, maybe one day ill paint it, never know what im in the mood for! the cup holders fit perfectly on the little bump of the body, pretty solid.

i know this isnt a big performance changing project, but hey, i do what i can with what i got!

It took me about an hour of digging through the army/navy store, but i finally found a nice 20mm ammo crate!!! ill be installing it in my 62 this weekend:):)

There's two screws and two nuts. The nuts are 10mm socket so probably 8mm, and the screws are the same size.

If when you're going to drill your ammo can you put the screws in the holes, then dab some grease on the studs in the front and the heads of the screws, then carefully set the box where you want it, you know where to drill your holes. It on'y took me about 28 tries to get this right.

Also if you use fenderwashers, the ones about an inch in diameter with the small hole, you can drill your mounting holes a little big so there's some wiggle room.

Mine sat crooked, so I cut the head off a #8 screw and put it on the mounting plate as a spacer on the right front.

Excellent!! Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a ton :)

10 mm hex would be a 6mm nut/bolt. 8mm nut/bolt would be 12mm hex on a Toyota.

I feel you, bruthah...

If anybody has it, post pics up and let me see the work! Also, if any ideas yall get that are cool other mods, thatd be great!

Installed it over the heater the other day. I'm really happy with the way the hinge allows the lid to fully open. It was a bit of a problem maneuvering the box so that it would not eventually rub a hole in the amazing leather BMW seats:cool:

now that^ is how its done, and i like the seats!

Thanks haha, trying to match up where to drill the holes in the box was a headache :bang:

Try this:
Put the screws in the mounting holes.
Make some inletting black by crushing a charcoal briquette and mixing with axle grease. Dab the axle grease on the heads of the screws, carefully set the ammo can where you want it, pick up can, drill on black spots.

This is how I did it with rear inside panels:
marking panels 2.webp

I was planning on doing something like this, but the thought, "why not make this job 10x more problematic than it needs to be. Yeah, I'll do that instead". I'll being using your method when I put in new quarter panels. Thanks

Ah, I understand. That is my first choice for any project as well.

Excellent idea! Really one of the best ( and cheapest) upgrades on this entire site. I love it.

I have a spectacular modification of the basic ammo can console I shall unveil later this week.
I'm off the fabricators to get it built tomorrow.
