Ha! Love the look on your face, Tony!!! :)

Little kids in Mozambique had the same reaction.
These ones had never seen photographs of themselves...ever...and were intrigued by my DSLR's screen... Wife shot this from a distance as I was showing them photos I'd shot of them. Their runny noses and pawing at me is likely what got me violently ill the the next week and trip home:

Nice! It really puts life into perspective traveling over there. They genuinely appreciate and are grateful for everything. I bought the kids a cheap soccer ball and they were ecstatic, instantly ran outside and kicked it around all day. But if you buy a kid in the US an iphone 7 and they'll ask why it isn't an iphone 8. Those kids were happy just having me pick them up and lift them as high as I could. I have another pic of 4 kids hanging on me begging to lift them up. Such a weird dichotomy with other cultures.

Well this thread went off the rails :)

Off the rails, for sure... but

Man, you hit the nail square.
Appreciation deficit here no doubt. Nothing impresses most kids here any more.
But like you... I watched kids in PNG actually playing soccer bare foot with a rotten coconut in the Sepik River Valley.
I produced what was actually an old, squishy volley ball, and you'd think they'd died and gone to heaven.

Everyone is so right about spoiled American kids. I go to Ethiopia every year working with orphans. We have two feeding centers that take care of over 120 orphans. Kids full of hope, yet absolutely dirt poor. When use the expression, give you the shirt of their back, they'd give you the only shirt that they own.

I've brought my two oldest on the last two trips just for them to see that life can be great without smartphones and wifi.

My going to Ethiopia the last few years led me to land cruiser ownership. Spotting land cruisers in Ethiopia is like spotting F150s here in NE Florida. They are everywhere.

When I had a Dodge dually CTD 3500 4x4 some members were running Toyo M-60s they are used on heavy duty trucks in rock mines they’re pretty much the toughest tire you could ever buy, you might check those out
