Considering I am running 295/75/R16 AT...(Nitto Terras) What tires pressure would you recommend I run in the following scenarios: Loose sand trails...(beach, desert dry washes....deep sand...) (Ihear 12 psi. is a conservative low no... 18-20 is fine otherwise.) Standard dirt trails found in Big Bear Anza etc. Paved road (maximum fuel efficiency.)
 
I ran 23 PSI in these pics and I think the rest of the GCC crew ran 18 without rear lockers (Tacomas) on the same trail. The surface was loose dirt and jagged rocks scattered around the trail. The third pic (stamp date wrong) which is typical of the hill climbs in the area - Izusu Trooper on the climb.

Pismo Beach (SnT 06) I got stuck in one area when I ran 28 psi and the only way I got out without a tug was airing down to 18 psi - no problems after that.

Tires - 285/75/16 BFG ATs

I'm running 285 Revo's.

At Pismo - 12-15 psi.

For normal trails, etc out and around Anza or DV 18-20.

How do you like your 295 Nitto's. Next set, I'd like to go a little larger w/o having to regear, so 295's is about as big as I'd want to go.

That's about what we run on our rig. We are running the same size tire as you too. But our rig weighs a ton more than your rig - literally! LOL

Should the pressures change per type of tire. IE; Revo's (Aggressive Street Tire), AT's, MT's?
I would think that since I am running MT's with more grab that I would not need lower pressure then tires with less grab unless I wanted a cushier ride.

Different tires will exibit different levels of visible deflation at a given pressure. Typically when you're going over rocks, MT's or not, you want to lower the pressure to the point that the tires start to conform to to the rocks. From my experience most tires do best in the rocks from 15 - 20 psi. I've run as low as 8 lbs with lighter trucks in the sand.

You'll spin an MT tire running "street" pressure about as easily as anything else.
 
For really deep sand on Chappaquidick, I run 10-12, but Catskills, PA and NH, I'll run 20.

Pretty much what Steve said, the pressure will change a little based on the type of tire but not so much for the actual tread design but the carcass of the tire is usually tougher and has more plies with a mud terrain and will therefore require less pressure to get the same bulge and conformity to the rocks than the same size AT. The difference is not much though.

I usually run 15 psi on the trails and 10-12 in the sand depending on the speed I expect to see.

Holy shiat! Alan, the first is insane. Should things go horribly bad it appears from the pic you could end up in the lake/reservoir easily...or worse...

Brent, I can't comment too much on my tires but I am really pleased with Nittos, the only problem I've had was a needed tire plug from an imbedded screw in one tire....never had any problems off road, no tears. And they are fairly quiet as well.
 
Just be careful with the airing down if you don't have beadlocks or similar. blowing a bead is not the funnest activity. I probably wouldn't go below 15lbs

Once you do that go up 2psi and that what i would run, i only run more where there is going to be hi speeds involved(30mph +) its hard to turn at 12 psi. you will find that most of us run too much pis, and that wheeling at a lower psi is far easer(read more traction, smoother ride, less need to use lockers, treading lightly) On the Fj40 when loaded @ 4000# i run 10 psi in the rear, 8psi in the front, but the 80 is a different beast, i would start at 12psi rear and 12 psi front.
 
Really depends on the terrain, rims, tires you run to some degree to expand on Brentbba suggestions:

I hear you, but are'nt you running skinny bias tires and 15" rims?

With the 16" rims 12psi is kind of low with my tires in the rocks, rolled two tires at that pressure. 14psi seems to be the better but I still popped a bead once in the rocks.

Ah,it looks like Rowher Flatts to me, but I could be wrong. The steepest hill climb I have done. The pics, even though they look bad, give no real depth of just how steep some of those climbs are. Especially with a squirrely rear end of a truck :D

I usually run 14-16psi in most places, except, like everyone has said, Pismo, where I go to about 10.
