well I guess this may be one of the reasons I was having trouble getting it started, now I need to put an exhaust system on it. Anyone out there piece one together with pre bent pieces, available from auto parts stores? if so was it any cheaper than muffler shop?

Yes.

But probably not cheaper if you take into account the cost of your labour.

But then at least you get it run exactly the way YOU want it if you do it yourself and you can use thicker-wall tubing than most of the muffler shops do so it lasts longer.

I hope you found the rest of your broken up/missing steel inner air cleaner mesh sitting inside the cleaner housing !!!

I think if the cost of our labour were factored into all the things done on these rigs we would never even start on them for fear of never getting paid and going broke!
 
WOW, that has to be the worst air filter I have seen!! How does the rest of your air box look. Rust equals water or condensation intrusion.

pretty much the same as the air cleaner, so I used the shop vac! I ordered a new air filter today from Carquest $20.00 ....NAPA wanted $52.00 ! ouch.... Cdn Tire $44.00
