Air conditioning fix questions.......

I'm a real dummy when it comes to AC, so wondering if anybody has a 2 cents on this... (didn't find anything in archive searches)...... The AC on my newly aquired 91 80 does not work... ie no compressor action when ac switch is pushed. Looks like po did a 134a conversion. Heres a few questions....

Does this compressor have a low pressure switch I can jump to test the compressor?

Any specific problem hoses or leak areas too look for?

The lens on the dryer is very cloudy which usually means a new one is needed.. Does the same principle apply with ac parts as with other toyota parts...ie the toyota oem usually being of better quality than aftermarket?

when you turn the A/C on do you hear a clutch on the compressor "click"?

The pressure swith on mine is just downstream of the receiver drier, which is located behind front bumper on drivers side. Have you checked the fuse and the AC relay.

No compressor clutch kicking in..... And yeah I do need to check the fuse and relay... like I stated a real ac dummy I am. I just assumed the R134 had just leaked out, but starting with the basics is always good, then I'll turn it over to a AC professional...... it's getting hot in Alabama real quick.... and rolling down the windows doesn't work in 90% humidity.

On a side note it seems the more cruiser projects that I do that I consider to be somewhat exotic, the more basic things I forget.... ie "check the fuse, or hey has it got gas" some sort of cruiser/mechanical knowledge regression...... anybody else ever experience this?
