@ToyotaMatt Take your advice I will. Pictures of unobtanium valve cover provide I will....cleaned up as soon as the air cleaner is. ;)

I took a quick peak before I headed to work this morning. @Pighead I'm not sure linseed oil is enough for this thing.....at least the top. The bottom might clean up pretty good but the top section is pretty nasty. We'll see. I'd really like to be able to save that decal if possible.

So does anyone know why I have a RED decal? I'm gonna guess that it really is a 1973-only type of deal? The part number on my decal (17700-60304) is different that all the reproduced decals I've seen....some by only the last digit.....so I'll bet it will be impossible to find the same one.

I know this is an older thread, but I'm going to ask anyway. I have a 1971 FJ40 with a build date of DEC '70. I'm thinking of cleaning and repainting the air cleaner, and would like to find a new label for it. I've checked and called several places and have not found it yet. City Racer has several, just not mine, for a 17700-60302 air cleaner. Anyone know where I can get one? See photo of my air cleaner label:

I was able to carefully clean & peel the sticker and restick it without issues (5 years ago now with no peeling).

Thanks, I can give that a try. Looks like at some point someone did some touchup painting and got a lot of overspray on part of it.
