The light cover from City Racer looks great, but I'm wondering what I can use as a socket? Does it require a factory original socket or is there a common style that will work with it? From what I've seen, the factory socket has that "ring"...

You can try a want ad for the base/socket, won't be an easy find but possible. You can get a switch here if you dont have one. https://cruiser-cult.myshopify.com/products/new-old-stock-59-67-fj40-fj45-map-light-switch

I was hoping you'd reply @Living in the Past Any chance you want to get rid of the switch and light in your 73? You're not gonna use it are you? 😁

Some had the holes to the right of the glovebox with plugs. FST model had the light and switch. From an original owners manual I purchased new shortly after buying my 73 FST in 1994. Funny refers to FST as canvas-top. I have factory...

You will still need the base/socket of the map light , but you can get the hood at City Racer also. https://www.cityracerllc.com/collections/latest/products/darth-vader-light-cover-for-land-cruiser-fj40

@gmr76 @tahoe40/45 Thanks for the quick info! I guess I missed that stuff on the City Racer website. I bought his hose clamps and am super happy with the quality. So now.....how do I find the base/socket? Am I right to assume that the...

My 73 is back on the road and running great, so of course I've got to find something else to work on. As if the 1973 model doesn't have enough "one-off" items to deal with, I'd like to try and find one of the factory map lights. I've never...

@igotta40 really like the way your front mats turned out 👍

$.70 worth of hardware from my local pick/n-pull. Most of it was from a T100 and 3rd gen 4Runner.

Don't get me wrong....the diamond plate rubber mats look like they are bullet proof and I'm sure they perform excellent, but I'm looking for something that has a more original look. I'm impressed on how well you were able to get those to contour...

@locklaw Those are super cool. Can you provide a link to the website? I wonder if that "COMPLETE MAT, OLD TYPE FJ45" would work on my 1973 FJ40 with the steering wheel on the CORRECT side? 😁

It's unfortunate that shipping will be a killer and possibly some LHD issues but these HD moulded mats we have on the market in South Africa really work well in non-original applications to give the ultimate in protection while being not too bad...

Yea my 124 Spider was a 1970 but way ahead of its time. 5 speed overdrive trans, 4 wheel power disc brakes, twin cam aluminum head, very few other cars in the US had all that at the time.

@igotta40 I am starting to realize that. Not only are the shifter holes totally wrong, the edge that would meet up to the seats has no cutouts and wouldn't fit correctly at all. Luckily the original owner lives about a mile from my...

I have the cool cruisers front and back ones that. I’m not overly excited by them. The back mat is too short and doesn’t fully cover the floor. I took the front out temporarily because we’ve had a lot of rain and felt moisture was trapping...

Yea that one on the back of your Spyder (those are awesome, I had a 1970) isn’t from a FJ40. My rear mat is from Specter Off Rod. It’s super heavy duty rubber Diamond plate. I made my fronts from a roll of silver diamond plate rubber from...

@sogncab That is exactly the kind of info I was hoping to get from this post. I want to hear what people who actually own the different styles think of them. So no one has explained why there are button snaps on both the rubber and carpet ones...

Here's a pic of my rubber mat. It's in near perfect condition (other than a little dirty and folded) but I'm not sure it fits in an FJ40. The gear shift holes don't seem to match but maybe I'm just missing something?

@pb4ugo I will get a picture of the rubber mat tonight when I get home. It doesn't say TOYOTA on it so I'm assuming its not factory, but it definitely has snaps. Its odd because the holes on the transmission tunnel don't match my shifters...

@peesalot Thanks! That's the original factory upholstery too. Pretty crazy how well this thing was preserved. Those are the old carpet mats....they aren't in as good of shape as they look in the pic. I just set them in to keep my shoes off...

@rkymtnflyfisher Yes...and that looks really REALLY nice. I have no doubt it is very good quality, but I have 2 issues. First...my transmission hump paint is beautiful and I don't need to cover it. Second....that's just the front section and...

Here's the set from CruiserCorps. Definitely looks tough but not nearly as OE. These would be $240 for fronts and rear.
