Guys,
I am wondering if there are advantages in switching to springs for suspension articulation on my 2004 gx470? I tow with my rig and also plan on getting into overlanding and fear that after loading up the truck with gear it will have some sag in the back that could be easily avoided by keeping the factory air springs. My plan was to use the washer and spacers seen here AMTS 120 Prado Grande & Lexus GX470 rear airbag spacer. I am not opposed to coils but like the auto leveling feature of the air bags. If I have to do away with it I will as the price to do either lift is similar but was wondering opinions before I purchased anything. Thanks in advance

Derek

I remember seeing a lifted gx 470 that replaced the factory airbags with something like this (sorry, I searched but cant find the thread right now):

Introducing Air Lift 1000 Universal Air Spring Kits

Fits inside coils, and the coils are the main suspension component, but you can use these airbags to level if hauling or something like that. I liked the idea because you don't depend on the airbags for lift/suspension, but still have the benefits when you want it.

That's likely the best solution. I'm fairly certain that some members here have over-extended their airbags and popped them out (which won't happen with springs).
