Hi guys,
As I posted last week, I had my AHC ripped out and Tough Dog suspension put in for various reasons and long term reliability concerns. The people that did it capped off my AHC lines but the passenger side left still drips 1 or 2 drops every time I park the truck. Would this be residual fluid in the lines or would it continue to come from the reservoir?
I had everything left intact so as not to light up the dash like a Xmas tree. I'm wondering maybe if I drain the AHC fluid reservoir it will eventually come to a halt, that said though I am wondering since the shocks are gone are the lines still connected to the reservoir?
I probably should have had the shop drain the reservoir but I was just so pleased to find someone willing to tackle the job since 3x ARB outfitters and various other 4x4 places told me to hit the road that I didn't mention it. I also have the minor issue of the rear end a little higher than the front as these guys did not want to damage my CV's. Even though I have a brand new heavy duty Tortion bar, so at Landcruiser Phils advice I will get it wound up in due course.
As for the ride with the Tough Dog 2" Ralph front shocks and Adjustables at the rear, well....It is hard to describe. It is almost like all the AHC modes have been rolled into one. It corners like it is in AHC sport mode but if you hit a bump mid corner is not super hard like AHC sport. The ride is definitely firmer but you don't get the residual rocking motion over bumps and the pitch and yaw is eliminated substantially. I miss elements of the AHC such as the ability to raise the ride height but once I get my front end up a little via tb crank I don't think I will. The pillowy Cadillac ride of the AHC is great but the truck feels more alive with this suspension. I'm struggling to describe the change accurately for everyone but it is a definite improvement. I also feel a lot more secure on twisty roads and in the back of my mind the sure and certain knowledge that this setup is the right way to move forward with a 12 year old truck.
Now, any tips on draining the AHC reservoir? Also an empty reservoir would not lead to Dash lights coming on would it?
