The chrome on my headlight bezels and grill is looking a bit sad these days. Unfortunately we all know the OEM ones are NLA which leaves the aftermarket reps. Can anyone comment on the quality of these pieces? Every time I pick up an aftermarket body part I’m always disappointed in the quality. If you’re running aftermarket pieces which ones and how are they?

I'm interested in this also. I had a bad experience ordering from Relik. Months went by with no communication after I ordered and payed. Was finally able to get my money refunded.

I’ve got 2 new grilles that were OEM and 2 that were aftermarket. Too new to tell longevity. Fitment is not exact on the aftermarket. Had to make some adjustments to the holes.

Well that’s not encouraging. I’ll continue my search for NOS or excellent content OEM parts.

Have you checked eBay?
Yeah all the after seem to come from Taiwan, likely all made in the same factory. There are NOS but they’re so expensive and none are chrome. Just going to have to set an alert for new listings.

I too had a horrible experience with relic. Actually received the grill and it was awful. I returned it.

I bought one of the ones off eBay and it’s fine. The chrome is fine, the grey paint is pretty thin and scratches easily. I’ll probably need to repaint part of it at some point, but it’s still better than the 35 year old stock grill.

On the aftermarket grilles the bottom center clip is 90 degrees off and you have to cut it to put it in.

I purchased the FJ60 aftermarket front grill from these guys linked below - several years ago. Its inexpensive.
It looked fantastic brand new and fit exactly. The chrome isn't as robust as the original Toyota grill but if you keep it waxed and take care of it - it looks good for years.
It doesn't cost much - so you could replace it every 5 years if it gets abused.
I recommend it.

Does this fit exactly in an fj62 or is that a different grille?

The one from cool cruises is pretty good, considering the price versus OEM versus availability.

If your original one isn't cracked, you could always just paint it. Black, silver, whatever and call it a day..

I’ve considered going the way of some of the foreign cruisers and eliminating the chrome all together. I’ve already got a set of the FJCO wheels and I do dig the look of color matched bumpers and grill.

Yes I prefer that Look over the Chrome. eBay had sets of that color, but I haven't looked in a while. There's some other threads on this and quality varies, but overall it's usable. I think the main complaints were the location of the plastic clips which are probably due to right hand drive or left hand drive
