So excited to jump back onto Mud as I research all of the updates, minor repairs and mods I want to make on my 100 Series ('04). You guys helped me keep my '84 FJ60 alive when I shipped it down to the Virgin Islands for a year, and have been a huge help so far with all of the 100 Series resources. So far have downloaded a FSM, worked through brake booster issues and now awaiting some 18" Tundra steelies to replace the factory alloys. More pics to come with progress!

I do have a question regarding the steelies though - those of you that have made the switch, what size lug nuts did you use to mount the new wheels? Getting mixed answers from the dealers and want to have them in hand when I go to have the tires mounted/balance.

Thanks!

Tundra wheels on 100 series photo thread

IMHO I would ditch the idea putting on the steelies. Too heavy and not worth it.

It's already 3 tons, you won't notice a difference unless you're tracking gas mileage; which I would suggest one would stop doing that. There's pros and cons to both alloy and steel wheels.

Not true. Thats liek saying putting 33s on I didnt notice anything from stock..... wheels and tires are not like adding bumpers. this is unsprung weight

Yup. And I'm pretty sure the cons outweigh the only pro with the steelies, which the OP and many people on this forum would not even benefit from anyway. That's the main reasoning behind my initial comment to the OP.
