Guys,

I'm looking for a spare Denso AFM (PN: 22250-35050) for my '94 pickup DLX 4x4 with a 22RE. I see that Amazon has some arbitrary units but even remans do not appear to be available via Rock Auto, O'Reilly's, AutoZone, etc. I have cruised FB Marketplace in Georgia for a Denso, there have been limited options. Any advice for finding a Denso AFM? The pull a part locations in GA very rarely have Toyota Pickups and when the do, the are in pretty rough shape or are already gutted.

I put a wanted listing under the classifieds...no bites yet.

Thanks!

Parts Geek has couple available for your year: 94 1994 Toyota Pickup Air Mass Sensor - Air Intake - A1 Cardone, Autopart Premium, GPD, Standard Motor Products, Wells - PartsGeek - https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1994/toyota/pickup/air_intake/air_mass_sensor.html

At this point, even a remanufactured unit is going to be a better than used part from a reliability and longevity standpoint. At least the 90's model units are not so mechanical like the ones used on the 80's models. But wear and tear is something to consider, especially for a vital part like the MAF.

Thanks! I'll call parts geek and see if one of the two types are compatible with a 22RE. The only unit they have listed that is currently in-stock and might be compatible is 8189-02751167, but it says in the notes for the V6 only. I'll call and see what they say regarding the conflicting information they have on the site.

Part Number: 8189-02751167 --> Detailed Notes: Mass Air Flow Sensor for Toyota 4Runner 1990-1995 Pickup 1989-1995 L4 2.4L 7 Pins
Oh, wait, I see that note now about the V6. Hmmm... interesting. I think the 3vze and 22re used the same MAF on the 85-89 4Runners. Not sure if the 22re from the 90's can use the MAF from the 80's.

no. they are not the same. pinned differently as well.
22re use a 12v reference and v6 uses 5v.

I actually just bought a Chinesium AFM off eBay. I figured for $100 I’ll take a chance. It works great, no issues so far. Truck feels super responsive after I put it on. I know it’s junk aftermarket but I’m almost positive my existing one was also an aftermarket or remanned. The flapper door got kinda loose and flappy on my existing one which started my search for a used one. This proved to be very difficult so I grabbed the eBay one. eBay is littered with different sellers who have them. Find one with the best warranty which is a 2 year if I remember correctly.
