I consider the following items part of my "recovery" gear: ARB EZ Tire Deflator, pressure gauge, tire inflator and plug kit.

Got a pair of these steel toe rubber boots at my local safety shoe store.

I use a beach towel as winch line damper :hillbilly:

Im also considering a winch line extension, but dont know if it will be really needed. Please advise.

Already have a PUMA Air Compressor in the cargo area.

Anything else Im missing?

As always, your help and comments are much appreciated.

Lets see what we have here, two kits, one with the soft recovery gear, one with the hard stuff.
IMG_1897.JPG

The hard kit includes 1 pair of leather gloves, winch controller, hook strap, 2 choker chains, 1 snatch block, 3 bow shackles and a piece of 1" dowel about 8" long.
IMG_1899.JPG

The soft kit includes 30' strap, 8' tree saver, 6' tree saver, and two 6' continual loop bow slings.

Aside from getting an extra shackle or two like you had already mentioned it looks like your kit is pretty solid. One thing I might recommend is getting a few bow slings like the green ones above. You can girth hitch them around your spare recovery point then attach them to your line for a safety in case of a breakage. BTW that is an awesome stuck picture you have there and whatever forest you are driving through looks amazing.

The slings are sweet. Don't buy s***ty shackles. CM or Crosby. I guess those goofy green european shackles are fine too. The dowel is cool, need a couple straps for that to be useful... A couple straps come in handy... Ive used them to extend winch line, against the interent conscenus. Shovel, bow saw, larget hatchet.

On recent club run, we encountered a spot where the nearest tree was on the order of 100 feet away. Luckily between the bunch of us, we were able to scrounge up extra straps and lengths of wire rope. After that experience, I added a hook to the free end of the steel rope that I removed from my winch when I replaced it with synthetic rope. I will now bring that with me on any future trail runs.

My shackles and most of my slings came from a rigging company so they are all rated. I actually have two of the 30' straps that claim to be 30k lbs but they do not have an actual rating tag on them so I am skeptical. The online rigging companies are a great way to shop for all your goodies, much cheaper than buying ARB or Smitty name brand stuff. Plus you know the stuff your getting was designed to be used and will do what they actually claim.
