Hi everyone I would like to ask I have just installed a k&n oil air filter as compared to the ordinary air filter white coloured does anyone have experience about k&n filter.

My personal opinion is that K&N is great for engines with carburetors.

My view is that any ECU controlled engine is not good candidate for a K&N filter because the oil from the filter element will eventually contaminate the all-important mass air flow sensor.

When that MAF sensor has K&N filter oil on it's sensor wires, the ECU will get different reading to actual air flow, and will tune/adjust the fuel mixture incorrectly. Typically performance and economy will suffer if the MAF is damaged by oil contamination from the K&N.

So if I were you, I wouldn't do it! ;)

Ok but I have noticed one more thing that the oil pressure guage also fluctuates more with k&n filter as compared to ordinary white coloured air filter is this normal.

Not sure how the engine oil pressure could fluctuate more if the air intake system is less restricted. Maybe the engine is able to rev quicker?

I would have thought that the engine oil viscosity would affect the oil pressure's stability more than the engine air filter.....

My car is just 6000km on odo and I just changed the engine oil and filter at 5000km with 10w-30 castrol oil could you tell me how to read pressure guage on 2011 lc theres no red mark between Low and High what is the normal pressure woth engine idle and what is the end limit for low and high.

There is no real meaning to the pressure gauge, other than it moves, and that means there's oil pressure! :)

You'll find that when the engine is started from cold, engine oil pressure is quite high, and remains high even at idle. Once the oil warms up, you'll find that the oil pressure drops off when at idle. There is no "normal" range that I can see - that needle just swings any which way, mostly dependent on revs, and I think it's just there to show you that there's oil pressure.

The gauge is not calibrated to any specific scale.

If the oil pressure light comes on, stop the engine! That's about all that I can advise you.

Thanks for reply actually I was a bit confused why the needle fluctuates more with k&n air filter as compared to white company fitted air filter.

It doesn't ... you are imagining it :whoops:

This is the oil guage is it normal

The car is idle with engine hot in the above pic is this normal oil pressure in idle

That is higher than my 2013 US spec 200 shows at warm idle. I think you're good

I think its due to hot weather in here is this true that when the car is idle and the engine is hot the oil pressure guage should be in the middle and not below middle.

That looks perfectly normal to me when the engine is idling hot.

X2 ... In fact it is a bit higher than what my US spec shows running 0w20 oil that is specified here ....

Tabbu,
What engine do you have in your 200? 4.0L V6, 4.6L V8, 5.7L V8? In the US, we ONLY get the 5.7L V8.

So the only Toyota SUV we have in the US is the Lexus GX460 with that same engine.

I'll reiterate what others have posted above. The oil pressure gauge runs more on the low side at idle. It doesn't mean there is low oil in your block. If you go WOT, you will see the gauge needle move quite a bit.
