Hi Gang -- Looking at this 2011 200 up in Minnesota; I'm in NC. It's got a 152k miles on it. Got the dealer to send over a few of the underside, attached. I can make out some surface rust and superficial scratches, but wanted to get the opinion of the group. I've inquired on the service records as well and specifically asked about the valley plate - waiting to hear on that.

Here is the dealer link. Inside looks clean but their pricing indicates they are extremely proud of it.

For context, I've been driving a 1996 80 series for the last 13 years as a daily driver. It's hanging in there and I intend to keep it but I want to get into something thats a little more comfortable, from this century and something I can drive for another 13 years. Thanks; any insight would be appreciated!

Not at all bad for a Minnesota truck. If I bought it I would wash it with Salt B Gone and then fluid film everything underneath. In its current state the frame only has 20-25 years left in it.

Or I would buy a southern truck.

There’s enough rust that I know everything you need/want to do in the future will be a fight with corroded bolts. I’m sure the KDSS shutter valves will be rust welded closed, making suspension work hard. There are missing bolts on the front engine under covers that I bet have been twisted off due to rust. The transfer case protector plate won’t last too many more years. Your 13 year time frame for ownership suggests maybe finding a less rusty one. If you decide on this, it may be salvageable with lots of work, but it’s hard to tell with all the gunk under there.

That would be a NOPE for me.

there one from nc/sc/ga

people dont go to MN to buy trucks

MN people go elsewhere to buy trucks
As it happens...
I grew up in MN, was there last week for a funeral. I was shocked at how much rust I saw, even on newish vehicles.
I'd only buy one from there if it was stored in the winter, which kinda defeats the reason to own a LC there.

Rust you see needs to be multiplied by 10 for what you don't see.

Best value would be a LX570 from the LA area (off the coast at least a few miles)
