Advice on 200 LC

Will be interesting since I need to pick something up soon. If I can't find a LC in reasonable time, I will reconsider the Lexus LX or maybe GX and the Sequoia TRD. I really love the 4runner but I need something more cushy and easier on my back. I drove a wrangler YJ for 10 years, followed by a Bronco for 10 years and then the 4R for 10 years. The Bronco was great, but the jeep and the 4R have taken a toll on my back. 4R seats are far from comfortable. Hoping the LC will be more comfortable, I drive 70-100 miles per day.

Toyota seats in general usually suck, especially when compared to most higher end domestic makes. The LC seats are a little better but IMHO they are still far from great. They will be a step up from those in the 4Runner but don't expect wonders.

Thanks for the honest answer. Ill keep the expectations in check.. A step up would be welcomed for sure.

I share your literal pain with the 4rnr seats. My 60's seats were dead so I grabbed the ones from my 4rnr donor. They're basically new and I'm pretty sure they're worse lol.

So, how bad are the video screens on the back of the front seats? They look rather large in the photos. Do they create any limitations? Are they easily removed? Is there any reason to remove them? Also, any of you guys have the blue onyx color? Do you like it? I have been looking for black, but blue onyx may be ok since it looks black in the photos. Opinions?

Back seat screens are worthless to 98% of people. Most who have kids use a far superior tablet/ipad and they can be in the way of storing the second row seats and can suffer damage from cargo. There are plates available to cover the mount should you remove them, I would had mine come with them. The blue is a beautiful color that almost looks black in low light conditions. We passed on a 2018 in that color and I wish I had bought it looking back because they no longer offer that color. Just be aware of the maintenance of a darker colored vehicle, should you actually use your LC off-road it'll definitely show scratches and wear more easily.

Thanks. It will go off road for sure. My 4Runner is black with plenty of pin stripes, acceptable to me given the fun of going on trails.

Is the head unit different given the screens, or do DVD's load into the screens?

Also, any of you guys have the blue onyx color? I do.

Do you like it? Yes.

I have been looking for black, but blue onyx may be ok since it looks black in the photos. Opinions? I bought my 18 back in Oct. 17. The dealer was willing to give a decent price break because everyone in Dallas seems to have wanted the terra cotta interior and mine was black interior. Honestly, I think its a great color, and I prefer the black interior although I didn't tell the dealer that at the time. I get complements on it all the time and it still gets parked in front when we valet. I will also say that I am not the kind of person that would have walked away from a deal because of color, because its just not important to me.

Thanks! I may take a stab at a blue this weekend. Color is just a matter of personal preference for sure. I also prefer the black interior over the terra cotta.

I removed mine yesterday and it is super easy (even a caveman can do it).

The screens are a part of the infotainment system ran from the CD/DVD unit in the front.
The blue color is sweet, but I always wanted a black vehicle and finally got one.

First SUV I have owned in 20 years and I love it!

Cool! could you post a pic of what they look like removed if possible?

Pictures of what the hole left over looks like or the screens that were removed?

Was curious what the seat backs look like after a screen delete. I thought I read there was a plate or a pocket adapter as well.

If you plan to keep it for a long time AVOID RUST. Even if the frame survives intact it will make any future chassis work much more difficult, not to mention the issues with corrosion on the KDSS valve if it isn’t treated.

Personally this would be the single biggest factor in a given vehicle with your stated goal to keep it so long. A rust free example is worth waiting -and paying- for. Some people posting here that live in places where rust is inevitable will disagree, but there have been many posts by others wishing they had avoided rust due to problems it caused for subsequent work.

Lots of info and pics in this thread. I echo the advice above to run at least a quick search when you have a question. You’ll get things answered more quickly and completely.

Agree 100%. Not just rust, but corrosion as well. I will be under any vehicles that I look at for sure. What I can't see is what scares me and why I try to avoid the snow state vehicles. Road salt ate the brake lines on my Bronco to the point of a blown line while driving. The KDSS on my runner appears to be all aluminum lines and proportioning block. Of course the sway bars are steel and pistons are a mix. Have had no corrosion issues here, but imagine years of road salt would be much different. Thanks for reinforcing my thoughts!

Guilty of not searching first. Did a search and saw the thread on screen delete. Will read up a bit more. Thanks!

While you are searching, check KDSS corrosion or rust. The valve on a LC200 is made of steel and very prone to corrosion on the unpainted surfaces, with the balance screws very commonly getting hopelessly stuck as a result.

Well that's going to give me nightmares....one more thing to look at it while searching for used.

Exclude rust states from your vehicle search and it won’t be an issue.
