I didn't think the OE mats had significantly raised edges at all. Yeah a small ridge but nothing like the coverage to contain dirt of WT or Husky. If they changed this design for the better I can't find pictures of it online for a landcruiser.
Yeah, when I re-read that post it made me think I was looking at the old model and that the new ones might be different. Even so, I don't k ow how you get enough water on the mat to even matter, unless you're in and out a lot in snow. As for dirt, it would be the same. If you let dirt build up enough that it overflows any of the mats we are discussing, then the mat is not the problem! I like the look of the OEM, but looks like there is no protection at the pedals, and potentially some exposed carpet at 2nd row sides. Really a hard decision for me, even though it may seem trivial to some. Having the same issue with picking an iphone13 car charger to mount to a pro clip.

In my case what gets past the mat despite the tall sides is dirt that is on boots say during a trip then gets knocked off via pedals (live or dead) while driving. Or along the transmission tunnel when bracing with a foot when off-camber or during cornering. It’s not so much the volume of dirt piling up as the tendency to get knocked off the boot higher up than the vehicle floor. The low borders of the original all weather OE mats won’t do a good job of controlling this.

Whereas without as much in and out of the vehicle, the second and third row are more about ability to deal with a pile or control something spilled. In my case anyway.

I buy mats so if my kid pukes (it happened) or spills his coke (it happened) or the gallon of milk spills on the way back from the store (not yet) it’s somewhat contained.

The stock oem mats are pretty darn nice if you are an adult with no kids, but we are very messy.

I keep seeing people talk about warping, but I’ve had WTs in five vehicles so far and not a single one has had that issue. They get a slick spot under the right foot heel in manual transmission cars, but otherwise I haven’t been able to wear any out. Not even close. Seems that’s an advantage to the harder/crappier plastic.

The one mildly annoying thing is the texture holding dirt so getting them truly showroom-new clean involves some scrubbing.

I formed a dead pedal cover out of plastic sheet using a heat gun, and retained it with Velcro and now my WTs are the perfect mat.

IMO the HE rear mat is better than the Aussie part. Higher edges to prevent things spilling.. but still no iPhone-ish notches for the outer third row seat legs.
Same here, I love the Weathertechs.

So, if I were to do the right thing, I'd get OEM mats for drivers side and second row, and then get OEM, covered by a husky mat covered by a weathertech on the passenger side where my wife sits!!

IMO second row coverage is better. Front row covers the dead pedal. I did a bunch of research when I bought the truck 2 years ago. IMO you really can’t go wrong with either.

I will again stresa that they can be a bitch to remove, and all the sand and dirt will usually fall off the mat and end up in the carpet.

Not sure what would make the front ones hard to remove. I have the Huskys in all my Land Cruisers. In my former LX 570 and current 200 i just put the seat all the way back, unlock the mats, and remove them. If you roll them from the back slightly when pulling them out none of the sand and dirt will spill on the floor.

Escape gear makes nice seat covers if that is necessary too. Don’t think they’ll sell just one side though..

WeatherTechs are the most over-hyped, over-advertised pieces of s*** offered. Their mats are a joke. OEM all weather or Husky.
I have the "dark tan" Toyota OEM ones for my 2013. I am not a fan - their coverage is just OK and the middle and rear row move around too much. If anyone has weathertech or husky that they don't like, I'll gladly swap them.

I have the oem middle row all weather mat in the '16 and agree that the two-piece mat moves around too much. I just haven't been motivated to do anything about it. I wish I held onto the weathertech from my '13 when I sold it.

Thanks for all of the input everyone! In addition to the second row I ordered yesterday, I just ordered Husky's for the front through amazon. Since its easy returns vs. the weathertechs, I'll give the huskys a shot and go from there. Should have them by Friday. Next question:

Is there a good solution for holding a newer iphone13? I will be using a proclip mount. I'm not sure I trust the magsafe holder/charger from proclip to hold the iphone through bumps or rough roads. Is there a wireless charger solution that grips the phone? Phone is in an otterbox defender pro. I did a search on here, but not seeing much other than ram mounts, etc. In my 4runner, I had the proclip wireless charger that clamped my samsung phone and worked well off road, but was wondering if something better for iphones.

Husky mats showed up today in 2 seperate deliveries. Fronts came first. I was not impressed with fit. They were bowed and buckled and curved up on the edge. They would not lay flat. Maybe because they were just crammed in the box? Pulled them back out and then ordered the OEM weather mats off amazon. Again, free returns. A while later the middle row mat showed up. It fits like a glove. Some raising at the Dorr sills, so I left it in there to see if they will.lay down over night. Oem mats will be here Sunday, I have low expectations but will at least take a look since free returns. Weathertech return process not as easy or free so wanted to try the others before go that direction. Might end up with a mix.

Good luck, I think the OEM coverage is crap and the middle and rear move around too much.
