advice needed on towing up mountain

Hi,
i am new here and need advice on towing a horse trailer with my '98 100 LC up Black Mountain (near Asheville, NC). Loaded, it is approximately 5500 lbs. I had the brakes checked earlier in the year and have brake controller and weight distribution hitch.
Any advice on pulling up this mountain? it is about a 6% grade for 5 -6 miles. What about coming down? ( i keep the O/D off while towing)

You would be more than fine. Just keep this simple rule....don't come down hill any faster that your truck goes up hill and you will be peachy...good luck and take your time.

drive it like you stole it

just make sure it doesn't start searching for gears and try not to break any speed records heading up the mountain. It would be interesting to put a trans temp gauge on there, but I'm betting you'll be fine...
