Cable or rod linkage? I have bent the pedal up to give more travel with my cable setup. What year carb? '75> have a vacuum secondary.

That's what I had to do, bend the pedal up a little to activate the secondary.

Ed knows what he is talking about. A 75 has a vacuum operated secondary and only opens under high engine load, like going up hill with the pedal to the metal. As long as the linkage can open the primary throttle plate all the way, that is all the pedal you need.

You can check for the operation of the vacuum secondary by putting a paper clip on the actuator rod so that the clip is touching the vacuum housing. Then take it for a drive and put it under high load with the pedal to the metal in high gear. Then check to see if the clip has moved down the rod by about a half inch.

Learn something new every day. Thanks.

i can make it open by moving the linkage under the hood....although there IS a vacuum actuator on the other side of the carb. Does the linkage just move to a point where it will allow the actuator to open it?? I swear I could open it by rotating the linkage enough....maybe Im wrong. Thanks for the input guys.

I've searched to no avail. Is there an adjustment on the travel of the gas pedal?
Yes, the vertical pushrod from pedal to tork rod is adjustable for length.
Remove, adjust threaded end, reinstall, check for WOT at the carb. Rinse, lather, repeat until carb primary throttle just hits WOT stop as pedal hits floor.
