I need to go to 4.88 gears in my 86' truck, and I do not want to buy and setup new gears. I'd like to get the front and rear 3rds off an auto 4runner with factory 4.88s, there are a few in a junk yard I do good business with. How much trouble is it to lock the add inplace and is there any clearance issues with my stock 22R oil pan.

No interference issues. Not hard to lock in place - just need a vacuum line to the right port..

Or, you can use a slide hammer to pull off the long-side axle shafts/housings of both front axles and swap them - not hard.
