In last few weeks, I have driven 6 LX570s and land cruisers, ranging from 08 to 2016. I noticed that most of them seem to be very flat in acceleration but the 09 LX570 I drove seemed to have some power and ride wasnt boring.

I have tried using power mode, sport mode (moving gear shifter to left from D), but all the other vehicles felt limpish and boring from 15-45mph. Like no juice.

I think there has to be something I am not doing right or can be fixed because the 09 Lexus had good acceleration. Maybe original owner put a chip to fix the limp power curve?

Any ideas appreciated. I have a tundra motor in my LX470 and everyone loves that vehicle with 1.5" Slee Lift.

One contributing factor: Did the "limpish" ones have tires that are larger in diameter than stock? If it was the case and if the owner did not change the gearing ratio, the acceleration would be impacted.

No all of them had stock wheels with normal tires, most had 18", newer 2016 lexus had 20-21" which I didnt like.

I have a stock '10 200 and my mom has a stock '15 LX. I have driven hers extensively and my 200 "feels" faster. My throttle is much more touchy where hers is very smooth on tip-in. Perhaps the Engine management control has changed and a newer 200 would feel more "refined". FWIW, I like the way mine drives better but I am of course biased.

I have always noticed that my 2008 has a very touchy gas pedal. You have to just baaaaarely press from a stop, or it really guns it off the line.

Could it be that somewhere along the line, an adjustment was made to the travel required on the gas pedal for heavy acceleration?

I have a '13 LX570 and the throttle response is rather well done. Merging onto the freeway, passing, and just all around throwing the foot down are all done with a gush of power and speed.

If your quest is for the fastest LX570, you'd be best served looking for one with a supercharger. Though, I don't know for the life of me why you'd pay that premium for a 1/10th of a second off the line. These rigs aren't meant to be speed demons.

I wish you the best in your search.

I have found one good condition 2009 I would like to purchase but its a bit slow. Ill be happy with naturally aspirated 5.7 as long as its performing to spec. My gripe is with power delivery. When I want to make lane changes I dont want to have to think about it. There is no gush of power and speed. The vehicle has 130k miles but the LX that was fast had same mileage. Even the 2016 vehicles I drove didnt have gush of power. Could it be the ECU learning the driving style?

Could it be spark plugs?

This is what I am looking for, some LCs Gun strong and some dont.

Could be the ECU learning though I'm not too smart on that system. There is a process to reset it so that it will relearn your driving style.

The spark plugs would result in misfiring. You would get notifications if that were happening.

I started using premium and fuel Injector cleaner (Lucas/chevron techron) and I've noticed a little more low end grunt off the line. I bought it used so I'm sure regular gas was used.

Lx570 require premium so there should be some more uptick with 3 more hp or tq(one or the other).

I've also started getting into the 15 mpg range from about 12.5-13.7 average

My '13 LC is also touchy/jumpy off the line unless I baby the gas. I've noticed putting it in ECT power mode makes the throttle even more sensitive. It feels more sensitive than the 08 and 11 LXs I test drove.

Thats the kind of power I want. It's been hit and miss, some have that and some don't.

I'm thinking disconnect the battery and reset the ECU. We don't use premium, and there haven't been any mods on my '13 LC. I can't see any reason any LC wouldn't drive that way. I can't speak for the LX since the ECU is slightly different.

Bingo. The ECU adapts to driving styles. I'd bet if you reset all the ECUs then you'd have a far different result.

I agree. Disconnect and reconnect the battery, drive it like you stole it, and you'll have a new rig.

Thanks!! I will try that next time I am behind the wheel. Will post results after a few days.

My 14 LC takes off the line fast. I love the acceleration

You've driven 6 vehicles....
