Not for me but I have a buddy wanting to delete his AC, it’s a trail rig with a bad compressor and he doesn’t care about having the AC .i told him I figured he might could just pull the compressor and/ or or get a different serpentine belt . I know that’s a odd deal but has this been done and if so, any idea what belt might be used ?

The AC compressor doubles as a mounting bracket for the end of the fan bracket. Plus look at the routing on the serpentine belt. I don't see how you could lose that AC compressor pulley and still have a functioning serpentine belt. There shouldn't be any need to remove a non-working compressor. Just deprive it of power and the clutch will not engage. If it's the pulley bearings that are the problem just replace those.

I'd buy a used compressor and leave it unplugged. I assume his current compressor is "bad" in that the bearing has failed? If the bearing's good, just leave it there.

It's not like a sports car where you could conceivably justify removal to save weight.
