Trading my 2014 GX460 with 96k for a 2013 LX570 with 108k (asking $35k). No rust, looks really clean, interior is one of the best I've looked at around this price point. My question is one that I haven't really found after searching here, which is what sort of repairs am I in for? I turn all my own wrenches, so I'm not super worried about it needing things but I'd rather go in prepared. Having read through the Lexus service records, it's also one of the least "issue laden" LX's I've seen. Seems like all of them have a bunch of nitpicky type repairs, but this one has many service entries but very few issues reported.

So what that means is none of the standard "high mileage" repairs have been done. I had to do the radiator on my GX, what's the MTTF on the LX radiator? And the GX has this problem with the valley plate, does the LX suffer that sort of thing? I know the 5.7 has a timing chain so that shouldn't be an issue any time soon, but is the water pump due to fail on me? What other bigger time/ticket repairs are on the horizon if I'm sitting at 110k?

I was hoping to find a thread that identified these common repairs or maybe an expected repair schedule, but I didn't find much. If there is already a discussion on this stuff, I'm happy to kill this thread & read those who have gone before me, just show me a link! Thanks!!

Oh yeah, I know it will go forever, but nothing is maintenance free.

There are threads on the relatively rare repairs needed on the LX. Try using Google for searching and include ih8mud in the search term. But at that age and miles, I would only suggest checking the top of the radiator. Those are a well known failure point from cracks around the raised ID square.

Replace the starter as preventive maintenance maybe around 125-150k. Mine went out at around 160k I believe, with pretty much no warning and it's a bigger job than it should be. Check the top of your radiator as mentioned, keep an eye on the valley plate. Other than that, routine maintenance (accessory belt, tensioner and pulleys, water pump, fluid changes).

As far as the AHC goes, if it's not in the service history, you're probably about due for a fluid change (though some people go quite a bit longer). If everything is riding well and it goes up and down fine, no need to do anything else.

Real LCs have human qualities to them. Take care of them, they will be loyal and take care of you
Is this a low-key commentary on LC vs LX, or are we using LC as an umbrella term for both models?

Lx is an LC in a tux.

Radiators from that era of the 200 typically crack at the raised square portion (probably due to stress concentrations). See this thread here: 2008-2018 Radiator Failure and Public Service Announcement - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2008-2018-radiator-failure-and-public-service-announcement.917447/

The good news is that you usually see plenty of warning before it fails. The starter motor is a bigger concern as that fails suddenly, will strand you, and is apparently a royal pain in the neck to R&R.

AT over 10yrs old, i'd expect a fluid and globe swap for the AHC. Plenty of threads on how to do that for a reasonable cost DIY. (Around $600 for globes and fluid)

Well, as luck would have it that LX got sole before I could move on it. Which allowed me to enter the actual Land Cruiser club last night.

2016, 118k miles, in fantastic condition. Got to drive it 2.5 hrs home last night, so I got good and comfortable with it. One thing that annoyed me about the GX was the climate interface. The controls are essentially the same but the firmware is slightly different and it’s easier to use imho. And man is this a/c cold. It was over 100 yesterday, and I almost couldn’t make it warm enough in the cabin! I’ve never turned my ventilated seats off before…. I need to figure out this rear entertainment system. Came with 4 sets of headphones still in the bags. And I haven’t even mentioned the power upgrade over the GX. 😎

I told my wife if I ever don’t want this car, she should just shoot me.
