New member, Great forum, learned a lot and hope I can contribute in the future.

I'm abut to buy a cruiser sight unseen, I have asked to seller to provide photos of the frame, an it shows rust, and I'm wondering -from your experiences- if this is considered bad or manageable.

It's a '99 LC with 200K miles and overall average condition.

Would appreciate all opinions and advices.

As someone in the rustbelt currently looking for land cruisers i have walked away from better looking rigs then that.

BUT it all depends what you want from it? an extra car to beat around with offroad for a couple years and drive it into the ground? Sure, why not. A long term vehicle, not so much.

Snowrydr01 said it best and I would agree with that assessment 1000%

Thank you for your input, It wont be my main vehicle, and half of it's life would be off-roading indeed, no towing.E
Engine and mechanical component aside, you recon I can get 100K miles out of it?

Pic # 2 is that a hole on the frame? It looks like it is just wide open to me... I think to evaluate if it is worth it, how much is the vehicle? Really really cheap?

Man, you are really good, I didn't even notice this over all the rust, and the truck is cheap, 5k.

Thank you for the input btw.

Thanks to bctlex findings, I guess I'll pass on this one, although cheap but I wouldn't feel good driving a frame with such big gap in it.

Or am i being a wuss? it's a land cruiser after all.

That chassis sure looks like a truck a member looked at and was then sold to somebody in the Middle East. I can't seem to find the thread so I may be mistaken.

Possibly. I'm not one who is afraid of rust, but that truck doesn't look promising.

I'm not sure what we are seeing in Pic#2. If the whole inside of the frame has rotted away I would pass, regardless of the price (unless close to free :) )

no

not being a wuss at all. there also is the variables of what others around you look like and go for. Different markets require different expectations. No matter which one i buy in the rust best would likely be unacceptable to someone from the west.

What a coincidence, I'm also located in the middle east, the truck is cheap, but it wont be worth shipping to the other side of the world with a frame like this.

Pic 2 shows complete side of the frame missing.

Thank you for the input.

In the Middle east, we don't have a rust problem, so certainly this is also unacceptable for us, however, here we have another problem, trucks here are so much abused, that I'm willing to fork out a decent sum to ship a truck from the states.

Obviously when I say decent, I don't mean a lot, it's gonna cost around $1500 to ship here, but still it's $1500 wasted.

Is there a 100 series somewhere behind that rust?

Opinion- Don't buy a rusty truck.

Thank you all for the valuable advice, will pass on this one and keep looking.
