I talked with Eric today. He still has the mold in his cerebral fluid. They are upping the antibiotics he's taking and will be there at least 2 more weeks. After the mold is taken care of, then they will install another shunt and he'll be back at home. He's at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham in the Neuro ICU. He doesn't feel like getting on the internet, says he very tired all the time, and he will answer his phone every once in a while. We don't need to ring his phone off the hook though. If anyone is in Birmingham, visiting hours are 10 am, 2pm, and 4pm.

As you know he's been out of work for quite a while now and he has told me to sell his Cruiser for him. I'll be posting it up tonight, but if you know anyone interested, he'd like to get $5000.
 
That SUCKS! I really wish he would keep the Cruiser. He's going to get better. I just know it. Eric, you have no option. Now quit screwing around and get better!! Damnit! What do you need for us to do to be able to keep your Cruiser?

I just received the latest $240 in paypals. We are up to $2940 now! On a side note-Eric is getting the full amount of everyone's paypals-I am covering the paypal fees myself. I couldn't bear to take fees out of everyone's donations-that's just not right.

I need to have a yardsale or something for Eric. Anyone need any 1st gen 4Runner parts? I have a few laying around-money will go to Eric.
 
Just sent some money through paypal. I haven't been on mud for quite a while and had no idea about Eric. My brother sent me a text about his situation.

Just got $300 on paypal! Total is up to $3240, I will be making a another deposit for Eric early next week. I hope to be able to drop by and see him tomorrow, if I can make it, then I'll have an update tomorrow night.

I saw Eric in the hospital today. He's just really not the same person you all know right now. He's so drugged up and tired that he nods off while talking and doesn't always speak coherently. He is now down 70 pounds from the weight he was at before this all started. He doesn't eat much and when he has eaten, it has even caused him to throw up in his sleep. He doesn't get out of the bed much either, and can't w/o someone's help.

The mold is still present in the fluid around his brain. They have greatly increased his medicine dosage to try and combat the mold and hopefully there will be good news at the end of this week. I had a lengthy conversation with his mother at the hospital and she is going to keep me updated this week.

Eric can really use your prayers and if you get a chance I'm sure he would greatly appreciate a visitor. Visiting hours are 10 am, 2pm, 4pm, and I think 8pm too. He's located at UAB in Birmingham, AL in the Neuro ICU unit.

I'm going to get together some videos of our last ride and any other movies, magazines and such just for some entertainment. If anyone has some videos they would like to send to him, I'll be giving his mother some on Friday. If you can get them to me by Thursday, then I'll get them to her. PM me for my address.

You rarely see see people gather in support of someone many of us don't know. I am deeply moved by the way the mudders have rallied around Eric. I don't know him either, but I'm glad to help. Shoot maybe if we get enough donated his cruiser won't have to be sold.

The generosity of people on this board is just unbelievable. I have received another $110 from people that don't even know Eric. I feel blessed to be part of such a good forum.

Family member keeps up with my escapades by looking in on Mud every so often. Read the thread on Land Speeder and came by the office today with $500.00 for Eric.
He was moved by how this unique group of friends have rallied around their sick brother.

Told me he wanted to help the best way he could.

Keep your chin up Eric. We love you and are praying for you!!!!

Wow, that's all I can say. This forum really does have the best people on the internet or anywhere for that matter.

That will bring our total to $4065.





I did just talk to Eric's mother and she got some good news today. The doctor did say to not get too excited just yet, but the latest test showed a drop in the amount of mold in his brain. That's the first good news in a while and hopefully it will be good from here on out.

He did eat a Taco Bell burrito today, so that also sounds a little upbeat. The doctors have really been watching his calorie intake. He has been close to needing a feeding tube put in b/c he has not been eating at all. I'll have another update in a couple of days.
