Anyone seen thusly d if wear markings on a 2006 lx470. Looking at possible purchase and this seems odd. No mention in car fax it in Lexus of an accident

They didn't fix it correctly and the door is sprung. Avoid it unless it's a super deal and you intend to rough it up on the trail anyway. Even with that I'd make sure there was no frame damage in addition to the lousy body work.

Could be the seat belt buckle also as sometimes the seat belts are slow to roll up and get caught in the door jamb as you close the door as most folks pull the belt outward once they unbuckle and get out. Only saying cause I saw it happen on my wife's LX as someone popped out and drug the belt out and before it had a chance to retract they slammed the door creating a mark very similar to the above.

If the door closely properly, I vote for the seatbelt buckle damage idea. Happens on mine, though not enough yet to damage the paint.

Wow my phone typing needs improvement. I am passing for now on it. I do agree it looks like seat belt damage, they are very dirty, so definitely signs of kids. Has a great service record with Lexus and no mention of any accident damage. Numbers just aren't where I want to be on my trade and their vehicle. Thanks to all for chiming in.

Careless passengers shutting the seat belt buckles in the doors.

That happened on mine....................once.

s***ty little rug rats....

You got smarter kids than I do . . .

;)

The "event" proved to be quite educational. I'm generally a pretty laid-back fellow but that spun me up into the ceiling. After I bounced around for a minute or so it was established that it was very bad form to allow that to happen....... :hmm:

Is there a way to rewind the belt retract spring when they get lazy?

Nope.

Dan, Was this after you repainted?

No.

The seatbelt retractors are worn out! I demand a recall!

My 2000 LX has the same dings from seatbelts. Negotiate a lower price and buy some touch up paint.

There was a thread about this but what helped mine retract much faster was cleaning the guides at the top that the belt goes through. The bottom part where the belt goes over gets dirty then snags the belt and slows it down when it is being retracted.
