I need to install my automatic transsmission temperature gauge at some point (before summer;)) and would like to know where people insert the temp probe (electric auto-meter probe)

here are the options I have

- Includes 1/8 in. NPT sender.
- Includes 3/8 in. NPT adapter/fitting.
- Includes 1/2 in. NPT adapter/fitting.

So with that hardware what is the best location to tap into the ATF plumbing system? Where is the ATF going to be the hottest?

If it is at all possible I'd love to see some photos.

I put mine with a T adapter in the exact place where Toyota designers place the factory dumb temp sensor in the line that goes to the rad ..

Howdy! I like that idea, but I would put the sensor on the side of the T to eliminate the two extra 90 degree turns for the transmission fluid. Just a thought. John

Tapage

great photo. Now where is this located? rhd bj74, passenger or driver?

is it on top or sides? how did you get at it?

If you could point me into the general direction that would be great!

If i new which way the ATF flows I could probably figure out where the outlet is.

cheers

this it's a up side pic taking from my pass side ( LHD 80 series ) to my driver side .. easy to find if you crawl under your Cruiser ..

I went out and got under there, I think i found it. Its on the drivers side (rhd) right underneath the drivers door. Its really up in there, did you go from inside the cab or from underneath to install? I'll have to remove skid plates to get at it from underneath.

the senor is sticking out the left side just below the right outlet in this picture.....correct?

I put my last one in before it went into the radiator cooler. From what I can remember I used 1/2in barbed fittings.

ForRealBoreal.... I like the name:clap:

How did you install yours?

I don't have any shots but if you look it up in the 80 series section you'll find it. Thats where I had mine and the rad set up is essentially the same. It was a tough hose to cut but it all went together easy.
