Performing a drain and fill (just the pan) on my 2002. I noticed that on level ground with a cold trans that the dipstick showed above the hot notches. I drained out about 1 liter a little bit at a time until the dipstick read just barely above the cold has marks. After draining the rest of the fluid in the pan I have 2 liters that was drained.

I see ranges from 2 liters on a pan drain to over 3 liters. Sort of scratching my head as to how it has this much in it. Drain plug came out super easy and no crush washer (might be in one of the containers).

Should I just refill until the dip stick measures correctly? Lots of threads discuss a refil with the exact amount, but this seems like it was an overfill.

Thanks.

Are you checking the fluid level with the engine on and transmission in Park?
