Not a lot of build threads on the new Land Cruiser 250 yet... so throwing my hat in the ring here. Love 37" tires, wheel poke, and big lifts? You'll probably find my truck pretty boring. I'm coming from a 2013 Land Rover LR4 that I built to be just as comfortable on-road as it was capable off-road. After 4.5 years of ownership and lots of talk "if only they sold the Land Cruiser Prado here in the US....", I took the plunge on this 2024 Land Cruiser 1958 in Meteor Shower with some nice factory options including the roof rack, rock sliders, front skid plate, all weather mats and PPF. The goal with this build is to keep it simple, practical, and capable.

On the way home from the dealer (NorCal back to Socal):

You were wanting the middle-east steelies. No help there.

But here's someone who test fit the Tacoma base steelies. They look pretty good. But the offset could be an issue. 24 (if that's true) is too little. Should be more like 40 to work properly.

Looking forward to a common sense build. But boy, those factory tires are just about the saddest thing on these rigs. Glad they are being replaced.

I feel like they should be fine? GCC spec trucks come with those black steelies. I’d eventually like to go for the silver steelies, but they’re not really available yet (made for base spec Tacomas)

Saw this same post and was really hoping they were higher offset. Can't seem to find any specs published about them anywhere.

Pretty impressed with the off-road performance. Almost like it was designed to do it!

I was constantly catching those molded rear mud flaps, so probably going to swap out at some point...

Very cool pics! Are those the new Tacoma OEM wheels?

Yup - these are what ship on the base SR5 Tacoma. I really dig the OEM+ look, and I wanted to avoid any poke. I'll prob switch to base Tacoma steelies down the line when they become available in silver. But very happy so far with this set up, and the fact that they're ready available as cheapish takeoffs.

I am of the same mindset - a simple, practical, but capable mod. My current thoughts are add Dobinsons lift kit for no more than 2" of lift. Keep my 265/70/18 Nittos but go up to 275/70/18 in time, or basically 33" but not too wide. No poke. This should keep ride very good and give added clearance which I think is the missing factor on the 250.

This is exactly my plan. Don't want to go any higher than 2" and stick with the 255/80r17s as a 33. Adding sliders, a rack, and maybe upgraded skids and the build will be done. If I ever want a winch, the Rago bumper looks really good, although I've never used one in my GX.

I'm planning on waiting a second the for market to develop. I used the winch several times on my Land Rover via a hidden winch mount in the stock bumper. I'd probably like to do the same on the LC250, unless someone makes an OEM+ looking front bull bar setup. Maybe the ARB unit? But also don't love all the added weight.

Did a couple things:

- removed front air dams
- Toyota OEM tow hitch plug
- cracked my plastic mud flaps from off-roading already, went for the Jaos replacements. Rears went on real easy but I think I need to do some cutting for the fronts…… not ideal. I say I think because the very detailed instructions are in Japanese and the translation via Google is not clear. All that is to say, they DO NOT mount the same as the First Edition / Toyota mud flaps. The fronts have a much more robust bracket that they attach to instead of using just the three factory mounting points that the Toyota mud flaps utilize.

I am contemplating the Westport Designs setup, once my factory tires wear down some.

They say it won’t affect the factory ride or the steering feel of the vehicle…but that only tires and wheels would if increased in size…

I’ve been trying to figure out if that’s real or not cause I wanna keep the ride as factory as possible but an 1” or 2” of actual ground clearance would be nice.

Do you mean Westcott? I was looking at theirs too.

Rough Country does a 2” front 1” rear kit that is just coil spacers. It looks way simpler to install than the Wescott kit, and from what I can tell, achieves the same thing. It shouldn’t change factory ride at all, and gives just enough lift with 275/70-18s (I have Toyo RT Trails already) to make it look more “legit TLC”. The bonus is, it’s not a 2 month lead time.

First thing's first... The I-FORCE-MAX badge was removed and the half hitch cover was installed:

What’s the deal with the 1/2 cover for hitch? OEM? Came with it or?
