i can vouch for both Mike and Jerome's ability to take direction and both are very fast learners. this is turning into a good group.
Jerome,
what time are you heading up? i am leaving very early friday morning and meeting with Mike at about 2. can you make it then? i could meet up with you and head out together, of course i would rather take 7 than the 401 due to slower speed and more scenic...

thnx Wayne! well, might as well head out with ya! hwy 7 sounds grreat (i was gonna ask what rpms to run my 40 at in case i had to take the 401) think i have my tow-recovery basics, still in the bag from P.auto, lol (tow rope, tree saver, shackles, and tow points ready, i coulda sworn i bought that extra hook for the 40 when we were at PA, can{t find it! doh, no biggy). the winch is workin fine, got a new battery, new shoes, and the 2Fs sounding good. all my diff-tcase-tranny fluids are fresh.

i have a cheapo single butane stove if that helps. so camping gear, basic food n water, basic tools, recovery gear, gas cans, and i think we{re a rockin! woohoo!

i{ll give you a shout when i{m back in town to finalize things and ask a couple questions.

Here is pinion pass, the suzukis run it as well, it can be tight and optional, conditions change on it every year as it is a bit of a water shed. So I am told some times it is a cake walk and some times it is a real bastard. we should probably give it a go as well.

Romey - do you have diff breather extensions?

yep, all around, but i gotta redo the tranny one when i get back and inspect the rest, should be easy. and i should silicon spray the plugs and bring a baggy and duct tape for the distributor (i think that{s all i can remember from Wayner). i know my 40s been underwater lots, when i cleaned the glove box there was mud in thar, lol.

and thanks Louis for all the briefing of all the cool trails!

umm, i do like a friday evening night run when i go... it is usually the most fun.

Here is a quick video, of course the good stuff isn't on it - too busy squeezing the HDJ81 through the trail to take vid and pics:

YouTube - TNTLC quinn 2009

Should have a date set this week.

Louis

noice vid! did that stocker (i{m guessing locked) 80 make it through everything? wickad! now i{m really gettin excited.

No the 80 didnt go through the pass, I havent been through it yet but think we should give it a try - I haven't been turned around yet.

Night runs! Well, I won't get into the night runs we used to do around here, never know who is watching:)

So I bought a bunch of stuff, got the screened tent, a modular tent with 2 attached sections for storage, a small aluminum collapsable table, a propane light, a folding chair or two and a 12V cooler to keep some beverages and steaks cold.

I'll bring 4 steaks, taters and something else up for dinner on one of the nights, not sure what we will do for the other nights. I'll bring some other stuff for a trail lunch. Anyone have any other ideas? I'll also bring paper plates and plastic utensils - bag it up and bring it to the dump nearby the next day.

Now I have to find a nice day to tear my front end down and fix my front locker - biatch. It is going to rain for the next 5 days in a row they are saying, the long weekend forecast is showing the possibility of some nice days!

once i{m back, i{ll list down what i{m bringing, still need to get rubbermaid bins to strap to the back of the 40, got a half soft top and no tail gate, thinkin of jimmyin something up to sleep on the 40 under a tarp, we{ll see, got a tent if needed. guess we{re bringing water to drink as well. i can make a simple banek mix thats easy to cook, like pancakes, just add nuts or pepperrettes or cheese, etc...and just fry it. anyway, we can share our lists next week so we bring just what we need. eitherway, i{m good for ruffin it. campin and wheelin . . . oh yeah!

i can pack some burgers or chops (or both). i will be packing water, seems the bug slike pop more than i do.
sounds like a good weekend shaping up.

i had a 97 HZJ75 that did that... turned the fuel up and added propane... you put your foot down and it ROCKED my world...

hummm, a winch would have been faster... and easier on the truck.

Wayne - is the passenger seat still available?

If so - please sign me up.

call me when you get 5 minutes downtime (from the truck and bbq) this weekend....

cell 803-609-0860

seat is available and now booked
<trying to source a tow vehicle for the weekend>
bring camping gear

Geez, I wish I could make this one guys... sucks to be me. STILL havn't fixed the exhaust on the 60, it's getting pretty bad. On the good note - I've got the 40 back on the road - its a HOG on gas!! (yeah, that gasoline stuff is expensive compared to the WVO!)

Wayne, are you meeting up with Mike coming through K-town on the 401? or are you taking 7 all the way across? If on the 401 I'll meet up with you guys for a few minutes before you take off.

Anyone need a 22R & tranny? Just pulled one out of an '83 4x4.

hey Bruce,
sorry to hear ya can´t make it! i believe Wayne mentioned somewhere that we´re taking the 7 across and takin it easy . . .

do ya think my 40 can cruise on the 401 with 35s and 4.88 gears?! what kind of range should i expect outta the 40? haven´t taken her much on the highway yet, just curious...

cheers.
romey

. .. hope to see your 40 one day too!

just chatted with Mike and we are stoked to get going.

we will be meeting at Kingston, doing lunch and meeting with some of the locals and then heading up.
we plan on being at the campsite at or before 6 friday evening.

i won't be bringing the tractor or the tractor tires. i tried out the streets in the local gravel pit and they performed acceptable and i figure they will be better on rock than the wide treaded argo tires.

Romey, we can meet at the 401 somewhere and take the slow lane out to Kingston. i will be in no hurry and if we need to go slow, so be it. pick a spot to meet and let me know.

i will be coming down 10 so i could actually meet you at your place at about 9ish if you want.

Ok sounds good. I am heading up there in the morning so I can grab the spot early in case someone else wants it. Will have my family until about 2-3 pm and then they will head out.

What are people going to do for food?

I am supplying friday night dinner with steaks and beverages.

Are we fending for ourselves for the rest or what do y'all have in mind. We'll be eating on the trails for lunch.

Just to help a bit for directions:

Get to the bridge on hydro dam road and then,

-cross bridge

-stay left and follow paved road up hill

-When you get to the top of the hill there are 3 offshoots, take the middle to your right - you will drive beside a large pile of crushed stone.

- Follow that road and you will see "KM 1, KM 2" etc etc signs increasing as you drive

- you will stay on the main dirt road and the camp will be somewhere between "KM7" and KM 15 - I forget exactly at what km - but the road is right beside the camping spot.

If you call my cell number when you are leaving kingston I will know when to expect you.

Here are directions from Mapquest Kingston to Calabogie, but I would prefer to drive through inverary and westport as that is the way I used to drive and always thought it to be quicker. This will give you some nice paved backroads that you can take your time on and not feel rushed. The 2hrs 40 mins travel time is just from kingston to calabogie - add another 30 mins to the campsite atleast.

Driving Directions from Kingston, ON, CA to Calabogie, ON, CA

I am primed and ready for this trip - should be fricking awesome - and we can do some exploring as well - if someone can get up to calabogie area earlier let me know and we can do some more scouting

Hey Romey - your 40 should do fine on the 4oh. Don't expect anything crazy! I've been driving mine to work lately, I take the 401. I have 33's with stock gearing, and 100K is about 2500 RPM. The ol' 2F has plenty left! (though it sounds like it's going to explode!) I'll bring the 40 to meet for lunch! Anyone thought of a location yet? There's a bunch of restaurants at the Division st. Exit, Boston Pizza, KFC, Dairy Queen.... or are you guys thinking sit down food.... we could go drum up some waste oil for Mike & I by eating at my "source" resto.... and we could show you the boats at the same time as they are only a few blocks apart...

Sup to you - I'm in for whatever!.
