Crossmember cleanup. I started using enamel other than gloss black. I didn’t appreciate how I thought there was a monster leak every time I looked at a freshly gloss black painted piece.

Tastefully finished in a Gloss Charcoal Grey.

Pedal bucket suckit
Pedal bucket fun times. Saw everywhere that the pedal bucket part of this job was probably the worst part. While I can’t say because I’m not done, I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is probably the worst part. And I’m not even done with the actual worst part of putting it back in.

The bucket I pulled off of a truck at Danny’s was from an earlier vintage and had the older clutch master pattern so I drilled out the spot welds on the clutch portion and puddle welded it to my existing bucket.

Getting it out was not fun, can’t imagine that getting it back in now that it’s larger will be any less sucky.

Clutch came in as well. Got a decent pile coming in from @cruisermatt. Hitting refresh on the tracking like a crackhead.

Love the carnage! Will be bad-ass when done!!

Well, I said I wanted to weld something after seeing your thread. 7 little puddle welds had a high price tag.

It all has a higher price tag than we want. Yet we know the juice is with the squeeze- it is how to ‘embrace the suck’ when a car suddenly likes to eat transmissions is the issue

Dude, you actually do the right thing and move the bracket over to the 62 bucket! Wow, perfect

Thanks Matt. I went through the required stages of acceptance to arrive at this conclusion.

I can supply some yuppy brews for any stages you might have missed

Edit: I can’t give moral support as I have questionable morals as you well know

In anticipation for the manual swap in the 62, which should happen shortly after xmas, I installed a 5 Speed Manual sticker in my tundra. It really woke up the 5.7...
Merry Christmas y'all.

Loose/ over tightened bolt? How was your transmission rubber mount?

Mount was/is good I guess. The mounting nuts could’ve been tighter I guess.

Long day. Lots of nickel and dime stuff on these conversions that can easily be overlooked. The parts list I owe Jimmy is growing pretty long. Should get knocked down a bunch tomorrow when the remainder of my @cruisermatt stuff lands.
Either way, I am so very fortunate to have @CenTXFJ60 coaching me through this.

Left the magic barn at 10:45p with the offending A440 on the trailer for the hour drive home. Got the T case built back on to the H42f and the bellhousing and clutch all put up. Just need to gasket the top plate of the transmission and figure out why the shifter is seemingly stuck on the t case.

Back New Year’s Eve with a couple boxes of parts and a fresh set of legs. The last big project will be the crossmember mounts.
