you might try a stant 11563 i think thats what mine is. its off of an early vw

Oreilly Auto list a murray 5783 as a direct replacement. its 9.99

I've tried the oreilys suggested cap and not sure if thats the same pn. But it was too big, wish that was always the case.....

Went to stants website and it's set up real nice. I ran all the pn's that you cats mentioned and they cross them to other store brands. So I have 4 caps being sent to napa right now. I'll report on if any of the work.

Broken wrench: what year VW did you use for your cap?

Once those caps come in I'll give a report on what works. If all fails cruiser parts has a fuel necks for $25 off of a later model 40.
